This is just getting better and better. The cork crumbled on opening, which didn't bode well, but after a 3 hour wait in the decanter the reward was a rioja at its peak, fresh sappy cherries, leathery complexity, and a long delicately spiced finish. I had two cases of this, but sadly only 7 left, I'm thinking I definitely drank some too early!
mutured colour. Turning into brick-red. nose: robust, rich, deep; sweet cherries on the lead. taste: strong, still young tannins. So young... Wet wood; quite fresh as the acidity rather substancial. Bit too short but good drinkability. Allover expected more.
Decanted for about 1 hour. Dark red with brick rims. Raisins and plums on the nose. Full bodied and palate of dark cherries, vanilla, raisins and plums. Medium, slightly tart finish. Thats how a 10 year old rioja should taste like.
