My last of these three merlot I got from the winery. This was particularly brooding and dark. The word that came to mind initially was cloaked. The tannins are well-integrated but massive on the palate. Almost reminds me of a heady Italian merlot like Avignonesi Disiderio. This was lovely stuff, so well-endowed if slightly one-dimensional. It opened up gracefully with a couple of hours of the bottle being opened. Nice wine from a nice vintage, well aged. This could likely go another five to ten years; nothing fading here any time soon.

PNP - took about 30 min to smooth out in the glass, lots of wood and cigar ash on the front end, but great dark fruit and oak on nose after a few minutes, slightly tannic palate initially that became very smooth with rich fruit and good depth, medium finish - this wine is absolutely in its sweet spot - vinturi hardly changed anything on second glass

Similar to previous impressions, this is lovely stuff. A bit darker, richer and more full-bodied than I remember. Bought direct from the winery. There is a weight of black fruit. The alcohol makes its presence known on the finish. I love the dark sweetness on the finish. Lovely and satisfying. I prefer this to the Regusci cab of the same vintage, which is more strident and less composed.
Doesn't hold up quite so well on the 2nd day; loses structure, and there's not so much to begin with.

Still surprisingly bright for a ten year old merlot. Suggest drinking these within the next year for optimal enjoyment.
