An evening with friends and a lot of wine (Chris and Renee's Home): I haven't had an Eberle wine in a long time. Brought back fond memories. This is a nice Cab. A bit generic, but that is not surprising from the east side of Paso. A bit of cassis, a bit dusty. Nice enough for easy drinking.

So much better than the last one I had a couple of years ago. This is deeper with ripe and almost over-ripe fruit, intense and full-bodied. Big blackberry notes, massive concentration. Impressive. I typically don't seek out Sonoma Cabernet vs. Napa, but this makes me rethink that. Am guessing this will be better yet in five years; the two years since the last one made a big difference. I wish I had more.

Don't believe the listed drinking window, this one still has life in it. Tannic upon first opening, then decanted for a couple hours and it smoothed out into a solid cab.

I usually love Eberle estate cab, and this vintage is no exception. It's such a nicely balanced and well structured cab. There's fruit, oak, and smooth tannins, but unlike a lot of California cabs it's not overly tannic or oaky. It's wonderful to sip or enjoy with a steak meal.
