  BYO at Galvin LC. Opened -45mins and quite reductive. Somm assured me it would blow off and he decanted immediately prior to serving. What a relief to get it into the glass with no brassica notes. This showed light/medium gold and carried with it honeyed, tropical notes along with green apple and greengage. In the mouth this had medium ++ weight a slightly viscous mouth feel and was redolent of a good apple crumble but with a good sharp blast of acidity to balance the sweetness. And then, blimey, where is that floral/tropical fruit note coming from? And caramel? Oh this is good. This wine grew and evolved throughout the evening, layered, complex, adult. Good acidity, well preserved fruit, unctious mouthfeel, secondary nut and honey notes and clean as a whistle. Extraordinary what a few years can do to these wines. I’ve rarely given a wine this score before but it deserves it.

  In my world, all wines need to be compared with others I've drunk and this wine put me most in mind of a complex off-dry vouvray in that the obvious fruity sweetness which could so easily become cloying is perfectly countered by a refreshing acidity. Drinking window is still wide open. Sadly, I have just one left.
