Ripe apple with some stone fruit hints, but overall still nicely fresh. Certainly very big, with obvious Grand Cru density. Much fresher and more enjoyable vs my previous bottle opened last year.

Wines Tasted at HDH Auction; 2/28/2020-2/29/2020 (Spiaggia - Chicago IL): Dark color gave me concern. Mature ripe apple aromas with honeycomb and some butterscotch with enough concentration to remain interesting. If served blind, I’d probably have thought a 2000 Grand Cru. Most previous bottles opened in 2016/ 2017 were better/ fresher.

Popped and poured. Ripe, lush and very concentrated to start, almost backward. This opened up nicely within 10-15 minutes, still showing ripe orchard fruit with spice and peach hints, but coming across as longer and more elegant. Kept unfolding and changing nicely over the 2 hours in glass.

Rousseau Clos St Jacques and Corton-Charlemagne Dinner (Sepia - Chicago IL): Fleshy ripe apple on nose and palate, Grand Cru density, very good weight, good balance, ever-so-slightly dirty on finish.

Still fresh and buoyant with Grand Cru concentration of fruit. Enjoyable enough if a bit simple.
