Very rich, very bready with lots of ripe orchard fruit. Very good concentration, good textures, less textural brightness vs my favorite editions of Grande Cuvée. A vintage more likely to enjoy sooner vs later.

Ripe apple with a richness I would never associate with Chablis. For me this is a better glass of Chardonnay than it is a good Chablis, given barely/ faint signs of mineral/ oystershell/ saline character. Much more 2015 than anything else.

Alongside Boucheres 2013. Rich and ripe apple throughout, coming across as lush to start (very 2015), then much brighter and texturally bright on long finish. Very good+ for its level. Better tonight vs when tasted at the domaine in 2017.

Served alongside Luchets 2015. Slightly reductive start, but that quickly dissipated as expected from the best Roulot. Apple and lemon peel through out with an impressive richness for the vintage, while also managing to come across as bright and lean. At the start of its drinking window.

Served alongside Martray 2017. Sweetly spiced aromatic start with rich and nearly tropical fruit aromas. Dense and well concentrated on palate with enough energy on finish to remain bright. Very good now.

Floral start with bright apple and pear aromas. Taut and somewhat coiled on palate with a clear richness waiting to emerge. Lingering finish hints at this wine's real potential, better 2025-.

Small glass, brief note. Floral start with broad array of lean and ripe apple aromas and flavors. Perfectly balanced with good+ weight, great length and textures. So great now, with upside.

Small glass, brief note. Rich fruit and roasted baguette with slightly more bread character than I recall from the initial release, but also more depth.

Drinkable but clearly more advanced than it should be.

Ripe black cherry and berry with both savory and sweet spice and obvious Grand Cru density. Some tannins are still slightly assertive, but they are silky and elegant. I think this is just entering its peak drinking window and should drink ever-so-well as it evolves over the next decade.

Small glass, brief note. More earth than fruit with moderate supporting structure. A wine I enjoyed 15 years ago, but now it is past its peak if this bottle is representative.

Small glass, brief note. Rich and powerful with hints of ripeness masquerading as sweetness in the best possible way. Enjoyable with moderate complexity, but certainly easy to enjoy.

Very ripe and rich with little restraint, yet able to maintain balance. A bit too extravagant when opened after so many Old World wines, but quite tasty on its old a few hours later with a great burger.

Small glass, brief note. Lots of apple with good richness, surprising freshness, then a bright, minerally finish.

Small glass, brief note. Dense black fruit with black pepper, olive tapenade and roasted meat, with just enough feral character to make this unmistakably Rhone. Very powerful, but very backward and too firmly structured for current enjoyment. But certainly 92-93 point potential, 2024 forward...or better yet, 2029 forward.

2008 Domaine des Croix Corton-Charlemagne 90 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
(2/28/2020)
Dark color gave me concern. Mature ripe apple aromas with honeycomb and some butterscotch with enough concentration to remain interesting. If served blind, I’d probably have thought a 2000 Grand Cru. Most previous bottles opened in 2016/ 2017 were better/ fresher.

2009 Château Palmer
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
(2/28/2020)
Small glass, brief note. First time having this wine. Ripe black currant and cassis aromas. Dense and powerful to start, powerful but tannic in the middle, then a near silky and elegant long finish. Great potential, 2029-.

2011 Paolo Scavino Barolo Riserva Novantesimo
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
(2/28/2020)
Small glass, brief note. Stunning aromas with red and black cherry, floral charm with sweet and savory spice. Similar flavors, just backward and firm, but this is an amazing wine that needs a decade+ in the cellar, but should emerge 2030- as rockstar, 94-95+ points.

1999 Evesham Wood Pinot Noir Cuvée J

1999 Domaine Château De La Tour Clos Vougeot
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
(2/28/2020)
Small glass, brief note. Lots here with a big, rich start. But firm and backward in the middle, and just hints of its full potential on finish. Certainly 90-91+ point potential, but more time/ air required. That's the 1999 vintage.

1997 Louis Jadot Chapelle-Chambertin
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru
(2/28/2020)
Popped and poured. Enjoyable, but very firm and backward. So cork reinserted into the remaining 1/2 bottle, to be revisited the next day. Alas the wine was tired and oxidized on Day Two. Inconsistent with previous bottles.

2005 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage 95 Points
France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
(2/29/2020)
Opened an hour before tasting, then revisited 2-3 times over the next few hours. Great aromatics start with black berries, black plum, black pepper and complex background spice. Similar flavors, just very backward and somewhat firm. This opened up over several hours, but clearly isn't quite in its peak drinking window yet, but 95+ point potential, 2025-2050.
