Dry 2005 Chenin blanc from Loire: Very different from my previous bottle. This was very reminiscent of a Savenierres with earthy, citrus and caramel nose and a trace of oxidation. I somehow think it might have been an off bottle.

Peach skin, light pickle notes on the nose. Light body, even watery, rather low concentration. With air it becomes more creamy. Med-high accidity, seems that it builds up in the glass as wine breathes. Lanolin, a bit of minerality. I don't know, may be it was slightly corked, but I had much higher expectations for this wine.

Medium yellow. Strong vanilla scent, then a complex array of caramel, herbs, citrus and a hint of oxidation. More earthy in the Savennieres style than Vouvray. Lighter weight than many Chenin Blancs, tremendous acidity. An endlessly fascinating, complicated wine.

Relatively full bodied, some chemical note to it. Milder, milkier than Clos Rougeard, lower acidity and not the same potential.

Souper Cassoulet chez les Gauthier: Nez intéressant mais la bouche est oxydée, amère, dommage car ce vin est habituellement excellent.
