Penfolds Grange & others (Extra Space): Tasted blind. Pop and poured. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of earth, slight barnyard and soy sauce, sour red cherries. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol, medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium flavour intensity, with flavours of earth, sour red cherries, redcurrant. Medium+ finish. I guessed this was an averagely good Chianti Classico. Good quality Chianti Colli Senesi. Has improved slightly since last year, with the oak integrated in and tertiary character development. Drink up over the next 2 years.

Slow-oxd in the bottle for half an hour, followed by another half hour in the glass. The high acidity and firm structure of the wine suggests to me that it is just entering its drinking window - possibly even 1 or 2 years off its peak. Agree with the description provided by the previous reviewer - but I don't think there's a raging hurry to drink it. Nice entry level chianti that may open up and improve with a little more time.

Deep garnet . A typical old world style wine noose. Medium bodied, acidity little bit higher than fruit concentration. Round and silky texture with medium finish.

Quite pleasant, good dark fruit, tight plum stone finish, matching well with food. I doubt this will improve any more with time so drink up.
