This is a crystal pure expression of outstanding middle aged Sangiovese. Dead center. Classic. This is reference wine and the category doesn't really get any better.
Try it before all others if you are ever lucky enough to come across a 10+ year example in perfect condition.

Bitter cherries, savory notes, a nice older mature Chianti that has developed a certain gracefulness that puts this wine way above its station. By no means "finished" this wine can easily go another few years without difficulty. The team at Felsina always delivers top notch quality and this is no exception. Easy to drink, this bottle did not make it past the first course.

($14) Nose of strawberries, balsa wood, oxidation?, rust, cherries, dust. Moderate to high acidity, similar flavors on the palate. Interesting I suppose, but not all that plump and pleasurable. Spicy finish, kinda like cumin or coriander? Some minor damage to the cork. I wasn't all that taken with it.

Couldn't really focus on it. Pleasantly smoky. Seemingly good character & definition. A bit too fleshy. Served w/ BBQ beef ribs & grilled veal chops.
