Beautiful pungent aromatics, some oak showing which is integrated nicely into the herbal characters and warm, sweet red fruits. A bit caramel-ish in fact. Some nice palate weight with a core of warm jubey fruit. Lovely wine but the 200ml or so I saved for the next day looked very different; overly port-ish, ripe, hot and a little wonky. Still probably my favourite Aussie Grenache.

Perhaps this was heat-affected, even though it's under screwcap. The liner under the cap had swelled up a little which is odd. Still drinkable, but rather a lot more one-dimensional than I remember. Sweet confected fruits and a rather watery palate. Heaps of sediment. From questionable storage conditions... I think it's suffered, so I won't rate it. Still going to save my bottle for a few years, I know it can go the distance.

Very youthful. Some Choc mint on the nose, but mostly raspberry jubes. Sweet red ripe berry compote and vanilla oak run the length of the palate. Tastes very much like a warm vintage wine. There is a density to the flavour although it's medium bodied. Finishes far too sweet for my tastes. Unlikely to improve in bottle, I'm strongly considering selling my remaining 3. This is a big departure from the excellent 2005 & 2006.

Amazing after 10+ years in the cellar, blossoming out beautifully over several days!
