  • I got a few bottles of this at an auction recently for 6€ a bottle. After reading what fellow wine lovers had reported I was not expecting much. This bottle however, perfect cork and into neck, is far from dead. It is more like a greeting from an age past on planet earth where fully ripe cabarnet grapes could deliver a wine with 12,5% Alc. It has a sense of volatility which will keep me from stashing this in the fridge to drink over three-four days but it certainly has everything a drinkable wine needs. Fruit - cassis, tannins - a bit drying but okay, horse stable/green pepper - in a decent, polite kind of dosage, nose - lovely, black fruity, finish - okay, not overly long, a bit drying but nonetheless pretty and somehow persistent. I don't think this wine was made to last for three decades but 27 years after harvest it still is in a shape where a dude with thousands of bottles at his disposal finds reasons to keep drinking it.

  • Deep garnet opaque colour to a ruby/ruddy rim. Aromas of blackberry, tar, varnish, toasted vanilla/oak, black licorice, kirsch, sweet red fruits, and a bit of herbaceousness. The nose seems more in line with a Chateauneuf-du-Pape than a Cab. Medium-bodied with sweet red fruits and a very prevalent green pepper/herbal note on the palate. Very present tannins, and I don't think they'll ever resolve. The fruit is falling apart too. A very drying finish with barnyard, glycerin, and bing cherry are met with more green pepper notes, about 30s in length. This wine is on the downhill slide and would likely have been better a couple years ago.

  • Quite a deep colour. Very tough nose - unapproachable and raw cab sauv and wood. Meaty and gamey on the palate. Very much dominated by tannins. At the moment still very unapproachable.

  • Deep ruby colour. Intense cassis, dried herb, pepper and tobacco nose. Full and compact with firm tannins and a long finish.
