The filling level was mid shoulder (3cm headspace), the cork was almost completely soaked, no signs of leakage. The wine was medium to intense yellow-golden in colour and offered white flowers, apple, ripe gooseberry, lemon peel, tangerine peel, dried herbs, beeswax, smoke and gasoline on the nose, complemented by mild spiciness. On the palate the medium- to full-bodied, balanced, pleasantly bitter wine showed apple, citrus, grapefruit, gooseberry, lemon peel, tangerine peel, fresh and dried herbs and smoke as well as lactic and mineral notes, with medium-plus acidity, a slightly waxy mouthfeel and good length. Very enjoyable. Nice.

I stuck a couple of these in a corner just to see. Very interesting. Still steady on its feet, but starting to slightly oxidize in that "sherry-like" way. Lost some of its unctuosity, but still well rounded, nice mouth feel, crushed nuts and a reasonably rich finish. so of course drink up, but only if it has been well cellared.

A very good bottle - still fresh fruit mixed with more waxy notes and mushrooms

A Weekend in Excess; 1/20/2012-1/21/2012 (Trondheim, Norway): What is this?? Golden color leaning towards the dark; smells of hermetized apricots, a bit pinapple; similar in the mouth, shortish.
