Found this in the cellar and pulled it out while on holiday. Was very surprised with the change from young. Cola, anise and dried fig, without any of the primary red fruit that I've grown to hate in this grape. Not a world changing wine, but won that has won me over to experimenting with aged Barbera d'Alba.

Nice fruit but on the ripe side. I tasted the 2010 the next day and liked it better. It had good fruit but also had better acidity. Still this was not a bad bottle, had with pizza.

This is quite modern. And yet quite delicious with varietal character. Barely ripe cherry, violet, coffee and spice aromas. The palate is mid-weight with a ton of acidity, quite mouthwatering and supple in its cherry and pomegranate flavors. A bit of sweet tannin on the finish with an herbal flavor. There seems to be an oaked veneer here, but producer notes indicate stainless steel only. Regardless, this is clean, pure and delicious if you like acidic red wines.

Nice, bright Barbera. Won't win anyone over with complexity, but a very refreshing light wine.
