Med-deep ruby, clear. Bright, fresh fruit (cherries, raspberries) on the nose, surprisingly sweet, almost candied. Some aromatic herbs too. The fruit receded a bit on day two and the nose gained in elegance and improved overall. The palate starts fresh and light, expressive on the fruit, a hint of sweetness, which contrasts the mineral touch - fighting a bit with it. The balance and overall harmony improved here too on the second day, when the sweet fruit receded a bit and the acidity came more to the fore. Not bad.

Three Burgundies and a Swiss (with a sweet Rheinhessen Riesling to finish) (Our place, Bern, Switzerland): Tasted blind against other three. Medium ruby red. Darker fruit too on the nose: very clean and ripe blackberries, with elderflowers, leather (say other tasters, and indeed it is there as it warms up in the glass), and a smoky note. On the palate more serious than the previous one, deeper tones, fuller and well balanced. High intensity from start to finish. At the end of the finish some bitterness. Then followed over three days (non-blind) and the aromatic was always different from the Burgundies, with that beautiful blackberry note. And the juicy, intense palate stayed there. The tannins then became more evident and were likely responsible for the bitterness on the finish. ***

A glorious and educational tasting of Swiss wines (Bern, Switzerland): I don't have any descriptors written down, but given that I made a significant point to write down the name of the wine, I know I enjoyed it.

All a bit simple. Lots of rasperry and oak but lacking complexity and meat. Drink now to 2020
