I miss the old style of Copain with its voluptuous fruit and great intensity of flavors. This wine is still very youthful despite its 12 year age. The beautiful and juicy blackberry and boysenberry fruits form the foundation for this wine which then opens into a gorgeous meaty and gamy Syrah mid-palate followed by a long finish. The wine melds together balance, ripeness and dark, brooding elements to form textured layers of flavor that roll over the palate in waves. It lacks a bit of complexity but makes up for that in personality. It still has years ahead of it, but it is highly appealing right now, so no need to wait.

(Copain Syrah Eaglepoint Ranch) Medium magenta red color; toasty, tart black fruit and roasted plum nose; tight yet plush, tart plum, smoke, green peppercorn palate; medium finish (needs another 1 to 2 years)

Time was very kind to this bottle. Slow-ox 4 hours.

See Brett below. Beautiful wine, youthful albeit tires over a few hours but good luck having it last that long. Delicious.
