My first online blind tasting experiment.
Bottles opened and filled into 7 x 0,1l bottles sealed with argon gas. Shipped via UPS express in an insulated box.
Wines tasted in the evening of day one (5cl) and during the tasting on the evening of day two.
Especially the Morstein and the Arlaud showed much weaker as on day one. I assume, I drunk the wines to cold and with not enough air.
But anyway, it was a lot of fun.
2005 Wittmann Westhofener Morstein Riesling Großes Gewächs 92 Points
Germany, Rheinhessen
*** brief notes from online blind tasting ***
Note is based on a tasting sip in the morning on day one, 5cl on the evening and 0,1l filled in a bottle and sealed with argon gas on the evening of day two.
Glass: Zalto Universal
Clear, medium golden, very youthful color. Clean, medium+ intense, youthful developing nose. On day one very pleasant, crushed stones, yellow stone fruit, some exotic fruit and Morstein typical smokiness. On day two a bit less appealing.
Dry, with some noticeable residual sugar. 13%abv. Quite racy acidity. Ripe exotic fruit. Dense, very deep, nice pressure on the palate and very long with lots of exotic fruit and crushed stones. Drink now or within the next 5+ years. 92-93
