94+ Not sure if it was due to the massive amount of cabs I had tasted prior or what, but not only did this stand out as a solid quality wine, it wasn't the giant fruit bomb I was expecting. Had an herbal quality which I thought nicely accented the dark fruit base and a slight austerity that I really enjoyed. Should be better with some more time on its back.

Solid pinot, CA to the core so if you don't like the style not for you, for me lies somewhere in the middle.

92+ Had this next to Schrader's Boars view. For me this was better. More finesse, more elegant and purity/terroir over sheer power.

94-95: Was very good, however not where I expected it to be given its 100 pt score and 14 years of age. Maybe my score is dampened a bit by my disappointment as I was expecting a much more profound wine and experience.

93-94; Showing great as Krug usually does if you enjoy the style. Masculine Champagne with a full body, rich, voluptuous, yeasty, brioche, all while maintaining great balance and elegance. Never disappointed with these. Great start to our dinner.

95-96: Showing great at 30 years! Over ripe pineapple, honey, dried apricot, nice acidity to balance it all out. Finish was a decent length and overall stunning bottle.

90-92: Gaining some age, not as much fruit coming through, nice rounded edges, creamy, very rich and viscous on the palate. This didn't show as well as I had expected. Could have been outshone by other bottles of the night, either way QpR is tough for me to justify on this wine.

90-92: PNP, really should have decanted, opened with a nose of dark fruit, cedar and bell pepper. The bell pepper started to blow off after a few hours. Showed nice mature Bordeaux characteristics and had plenty of structure. I really enjoyed this.

97+ This was one of if not the best wine of dinner. Showing very well, but I do believe its best years are still to come.

2009 Michel & Stéphane Ogier Côte-Rôtie Cuvée Lancement 97 Points
France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
96-97+ This wine was bursting with aromatics. Probably the most approachable red of the group. Very much a finesse wine as it was completely elegant in delivery. Bright red fruit, some subtle meatiness and laser like focus. One of my favorites in this flight.

2009 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline 95 Points
France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
95+ Very big, dark fruit, gravel, great structure. While this wine was very good, it seemed to be a little too tight and possibly closed up a bit. I think this is just way too soon to be drinking these. Id love to see this in another 10 years or so.

96-97+ This is a huge wine, definitely decant or wait a while before opening if you can. Black fruit, meaty, black olive, gravel, very good sense of place. Amazing wine.

2009 M. Chapoutier Ermitage Le Méal 95 Points
France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
94-95+ Another tight and relatively closed down wine for me. 2nd BIG wine that is seemingly closed for business. Loads of dark fruit, gravel, very tannic and not too much else that stuck out to me. This definitely has the guts to go the distance though. Great structure, good acidity and I imagine this will be absolutely sublime in another 10-15 years.

2009 Alain Voge Cornas Cuvée Vieilles Fontaines 94 Points
France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Cornas
94+ Lots of spice, vanilla, oak a little more prevalent than others tasted at this sitting. Not as rustic as I'd like, but very nice none the less.

2009 Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas 96 Points
France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Cornas
96+ Huge and dense, rustic nose of star anise, ripe plum, other blue/black fruit and a touch of brett which offers a very nice austereness to the wine. Mineral/gravel core, full bodied, this is my style wine. Needs more time to mature but very fun now.
