Eddie, quite a good mention, there - and I found it free to download:

I didn't know that I am the only forum member that you have met!! I'm honored. Thank you again for your company and the fine bottle of GPL that you shared with me over dinner in Singapore.

And welcome back, Old Doug, poet laureate of CT.

You are welcome. I do know a few others through CT but they are not active in this forum.

Chateau de Lamarque, 2003. Posting this while HRH listens to Trump's acceptance speech.

She gave me a hard time tonight about being upset about something I could not do anything about - how many times have I counseled her about lowering her stress level when she finds herself in that situation? Turn-about is fair play.

Of course that was not completely true - I just moved all our investments from stocks to cash. Now I can relax, I guess, until the morning when I see when my orders are fulfilled.

Speaking of the passage of time:

I was going to do a big post about Hollywood's Golden Age, but I'm eight days late.

At any rate, Happy Birthday to Kirk Douglas, 100 years, 8 days old - one of the very few remaining links with those days of classic Tinsletown productions.

I drank a feminine, perfumy Bolgheri (2006 Campo alla Sughera Bolgheri Superiore Arnione), the Packers won, and I have a roaring fire in the fireplace on this arctic evening. I'm thankful that my problems are 1st-world problems. Life is good.

Not sure what happened here, but got through a 2014 Domaine Rollin PV 1er Ile des Vergelesses with relative ease.

Attractive color and nose. There's definitely ripe fruit here with good, requisite freshness, earth/spice, and persistence on the palate. However, the fruit comes off a bit high in the mix and "grapey". This isn't an uncommon phenomenon for me. What seems to be perfectly fine red Burgundy often doesn't suit my tastes as it might've had it been a bit less ripe or more structured.

Makes one wonder, does Chardonnay carry alcohol better than Pinot Noir? For me, the answer is probably a "yes".

If you've ever asked yourself..

'what does drinking a whole bottle of wine with 15.7% alcohol feel like?'

And you should ask yourself that. It is clearly one of the great questions.

And it should probably remain unanswered.

This bottle in particular, the L'Esprit des Pavots 2012, is quite a wonder. I mean, it should be a jackhammer... but it isn't. It's not cooked or stewed, jammy or extracted.

Still, it is like that dangerous girlfriend you had at college. Potent. Painful ending.

But I am now drinking through a couple of glasses of quite good Barolo to help me sober up, which tells you all you need to know about drinking a bottle of very strong Sonoma Cabernet.

It's not bad, it's just silly.

In this thread, it's called an "alcothetical".

Not to minimize the immediately real or potential costs of it, but agreed - unanswered it is, and we should visit and revisit the experience fairly often, for there is value in it. Or not, as may be one's particular wont.

Scott - hang in there dude! …and just remember:

If you are wondering if the glass is half empty or half full, you are missing the point. The glass is refillable!

Cheers,

ps....We were just in Hood River last week for almost one hour. Pretty place - good beer at Full Sail...

Been there feelin' like the dog who gets beat... been there and sorry you're feeling like that.

A glass or bottle (or more) if that's in store, well I hope you'll spill the beans or talk about whatever else is on tour mind as promised in your teaser.

Seriously, know that you're friends are happy to share the **** as well as the the good juice and as my grandfather (Franklin 1915-2010) liked to say: "this too will pass"

Terry Hogue Saxum in a Box! Cures many ills. Wishing things turn Hollow.

My own bottle spilled half a glass on a shirt tonight. But this homemade "free" stuff never runs out. Only about a barrel and a half left.

Well, mission accomplished. Damn that Saxum is good.

Sitting here in a hotel room 2 blocks from my second home. Why are you in a hotel room you ask? well, this is a remodel" job, and we are on the 3 year plan. Currently the house is completely gutted, as the woman who owned it before us apparently didn't believe in letting her pets out to go potty. Someone she worked magic minimizing this fant when we did the ins[ection and such. So we take possession and there is still poop on the floor and the smell is worse than we knew. I've remodeled several houses, so I start tearing out hardwood floors, and then I see the subfloor. I tear out subrfloor, then I see the joists. Rplace joists. the piss has soaked up into the drywall, strip the walls. At this point, my wive says "lets connect the garage to the ouse"

So here we are 2 years later, and I'm at the coast thankfully motivating the contractors to start work again. Electrical started today, maybe ill see the plumber this month. Siding is almost done, he comes back next week. If anyone has money printing machine let me know...here come the fun bills...

Anyway...let's see...well, was supposed to be in FL this week, viesiting clients and Drycabs wife. I miss him so much. It still hurts.

I won a project in Canada last year, led to me expanding our company into Canada and hiring several people. That project is about as much fun as Sisyphus pushing a stone uphill...I'll spare the detalixe as the all powerful Google sees all...

Humph...yeah, feelin no pain right now...

Sat by the ocean fro a bit tonight. Amazing thing the water. can make you feel real small and insihifycant pretty quickly. Got thinking of all the songs I love about the ocean and rain (it rains in Oregon).
- Zeppelin - The Ocean, The Rain Song
- The cult - Rain
= Prince - Purple rain
- Soundgardte - Black Rain
Don't mind it so much anymore, the rain. Leanred to wear a hat, it stopped bothering me so much. I like green, so bring the rain. It was a craptastic winter though. One car was snowed in for 8 weeks, not sure I saw the grand auntil late April. my girls had 13 snow days off from school. glad that is over.

Peace
