ORIGINAL: dsGris I got an email from Mary this am so I will email back with the history of the CT wines and relating that we had the pleasure of meeting them this summer when visiting the Edelmans' Sylvanus Vineyard open house west of Yamhill. Previously when Lisa heard I was a WW Rasa buyer, she said I needed to get some Delmas so I picked up a bottle from Full Pull. Had a good conversation with Steve regarding The Rocks AVA and their move to the WW Valley. Started out with "Oh, you grow a few grapes out in Walla Walla. I bought into that WA CT project with Rasa. Like you I have a good deal of WA syrah. I am picking up a few Delmas from here and there, but do not at the moment feel I need to take up a space on the list that someone else might appreciate. I have only tasted the wine once (when they were pouring at McCarthy & Scheiring). I was incredibly impressed and bought two bottles when I was committed to not buying any more wine..... I have not had Rasa syrah in a while, so don't feel I can make that comparison. Cayuse I have had a good deal, and I would say Delmas is comparable -- perhaps a little more restrained and refined than Cayuse (though remember this is based on just one vintage of Delmas). If you are not getting Cayuse and want to get in early on what will clearly be a major player in the Rocks, I would highly recommend getting on their list. (I do not know them, and am not being paid for this endorsement. :-) )
