Here we go again (you maniacs).
Post #2 will be the one I update with declarations etc.

We moved the date to November to escape (hopefully) dog days weather. Average temps in early November are lows in the low-mid 50s and highs in the low-mid 70s.

The Event —A four day extravaganza featuring finest wine and finest food.
The Location —Peninsular Charleston and East of the Cooper
The Hosts —S1 and HRH
The “Buy-In” —Two identical 750s (or one magnum) of finest wine per person for the Friday/Saturday events (so four bottles/two wines per couple). Burgundy Thursday and Blind Sunday will will be 1x. Charleston Offlineorama is an elite event, showcasing elite wines and food. Like Mr. Churchill said, “My tastes are simple: I am easily satisfied with the best.”
Note This year's declared wines are super high quality. Look at this year’s list and do a little due diligence on Wine Searcher. People who do not have these types of wines in their cellar will have to go shopping. All wines for Offlineorama V must meet or exceed price/quality of these wines.
The Lodging —While I am not blocking rooms at King’s Courtyard Inn, the owners will offer a nice rate for people who want to stay there, or at one of their other locations. Wentworth Mansion is NICE.

Since several events will be located in Mt Pleasant (northeastern/beach side of the harbor), some people may want to stay at the beach. Isle of Palms is about 5-8 minutes from HRH and me. Since we will be using the clubhouse at our wee, humble townhouse, we’ll just add the rental price (cheap btw) to the cost of food. For people staying downtown, Uber and Lyft work great.

For those of you who are new to the forum, or who suffer from short term memory loss, here are links to years I-IV.

I’m going to Europe in May, but I might be able to come down solo in November.

I’ve got some good stuff. We know that. Plus I know most of the crowd.

However I would be stag. Does anybody want to tag team on another bottle of:
2008 Lucien Le Moines Chambertin-Clos de Beze?

This would be my 1st foray into the Chas offlines.

I would be interested in all 4 days.
With this much lead time, I'm certain I can plan accordingly.
For now I would be solo.
Way to early to declare, but happy to collaborate with organizers once themes/flts take shape.

Thx- Gene

We are definitely in again for Charleston V - already blocked the dates on the calendar. Not ready to declare yet but suffice to say the wheels are spinning and the sourcing is soon to commence. Really looking forward to the weekend and a return to Chas!!

The upstairs "Tack Room" at Circa is reserved.
Anne was our server again last night, and can't wait 'til next year!

Count us in for at least the Circa dinner. Hopefully we’ll also be able to participate in some of the other events this time around.

First bid. 2000 Pichon Baron mag. Should be getting drinkable now.

Second bid. 2000 Chapoutier Ermitage la Pavillion (mag)

Still thinking on BT, but maybe '06 DRC Richeborg (750). Perhaps a year from now will be the start of the window. Don't think my other DRCs are in the window yet. I have time to ponder this one.

After watching with fascination past notes and knowing a few of the past attendees, have become intrigued and decided I should join the madness. Now that I have gone to Tampa 8 days ago and now flying to Cali for a few days for an epic event my travel barrier is shattered, this is a no brainer, and I know will be an amazing event to add to my other list of epiphanies. Count me in for the entire weekend and message me about what the range acceptable for the Thursday Burgundy event so that I can determine If I can play in that arena also. The other events no issues at all as I am happy to dig deep and pull out the best I have.

Mark,
I'll bring a mag of 1995 or 1996 Lafite. I believe when we did the Ct BDX trip we had the 95' so might be nice to revisit.
Else I have 2x 2000 Leoville (LLC) to contrast w/ Pichon Baron.

Second bid: 2006 or 2008 LaTurque and LaLandone is what I have now,

BT: 1961 Drouhin St Vivant, (backup bottle of 03' Dujac or 07' G Roumier),

Vintage Champagne: 1998, 2000 or 2004 Pol Roger Sir Winston, (2x of 00, 04), 1998 Krug, 1999 Salon

Anybody want to tag team 1996 Krug Brut. I have plenty of good sparklers. I had thought of the 200 LLC too but would be happy to bring a pair of 2003 Leoville Barton insteadi

If we need more Syrah I have some young Delas Hermitage. 2010 red Tourette’s or 2011 ale Bessards. I would have to grab another bottle of either but that isn’t a problem.

Anybody up for a revisit on that 1993 Pajzos Essencia that Mindmuse brought to C1 BT. I have a bottle but I’m certain we could locate. I have a couple splits of old Essencia and it’s seriously dark like Molasses. It was so tasty but I know Essencia can age for centuries.

You folks do start declaring pretty early but hey these are important decisions. I have been giving it plenty of thought and have made at least one pick. For Friday I think a great choice would be 2010 Dominus. We already have To Kalon pretty well represented with a few gems. The Napanook vineyard planted by the Yount family I believe was the first vineyard in the valley and we all know its history. Will be fun to compare two very different wines from historic properties.

Ok 2nd update I think for the Saturday event I will bring 2 btls of 2004 Angelus. It was a mixed vintage on the right bank but Angelus did very well. If others prefer an excellent unanimous vintage I could wrangle up a couple of 2000s likely but I suspect from recent experience this shows well at this stage.

**In my quest to find a good quality bordeaux that would show well, I somehow misssed the fact that although not originally desiganted as left bank has evolved into such. Never really noticed before that my Bordeaux cellaer has primarily right bank although I love Pauillacs ets.. Fortunately I do have a few great btls though. I will bring 2 btls of 1989 Pichon Baron which will be fun to compare against the 2000, both pretty amazing vintages.

Winter Bump (since shipping season ends in early spring for some of us)
1. If anyone else wants to join the fun, look at the declared wines in post #2 as you think through potential declarations.
2. BurgThu wines are crazy—dig or source accordingly.
3. Remember that you do not need to bring BOTH Champagne AND steak wine for Fri. I am considering taking a day off from school on Friday so we can start the festivities earlier than last year. If people are OK with Flannery steaks, I will contact Bryan and see if he can age something special for us. If people would rather go to a restaurant, let me know now so I can make contacts.
4. Please keep Circa declarations within the flight themes (or suggest another) so that Chef can pair accordingly.
5. Blind Sun—How about, “Something Old, Nothing New” as a theme? We can specify HOW OLD if you want. For people who did not participate in Sunday last year, send me the name and vintage of your wine. I will assemble tasting notes and hints for the blind tasting.

Refer to the OP and post #2 for details

Sun: We haven't picked yet. Prob will when we get a bit closer.
** For Sunday I have to head to Lisbon that day so would be awesome if we could do the tasting on the earlier side although I suspect regardless I'll have to leave early.

I’m declaring
2 x 1996 Dom P

2 x 2004 Louis Roederer “Cristal”

If we need more great Syrah, I forgot that I had 2 x E. Guigal Château d’Ampuis from both 2009 and 2010. They both had great reviews with 2009 edging 2010, but either are available as are some Hermitage that I’ve contacted S1 on.

I can fill in with reds and another case of 1928 Maury de Sud. We had some of this at the original C-town Offlineorama, but this case is from a newly bottled cask. This was fun to drink in the think about wine made when our parents were either tots or still yet to be born. Mine fell into that latter category.

I’ve had some bad health this January but i expect that a May trip to Europe along with some good rehabilitation should see me very ready to enjoy this fun event. It’s been to long since seeing many of you that I consider friends.

Shipping windows matter! Thinking about how my mid-west locale gets my northeast and southeast domiciled wines to Chucktown when it is neither too cold nor too warm. :)

Note This year's declared wines are brainstorming--letting people know direction and quality level. Look at this year’s list and do a little due diligence on Wine Searcher. People who do not have these types of wines in their cellar will have to go shopping. All wines for Offlineorama V must meet or exceed price/quality of these wines.

Did I miss the definition?
