2002 Piper-Heidsieck Cuvée Rare

It is Mrs Fingers and mine 20th anniversary of mutual tolerance, so it seemed like the right call.

For once, that fingers guy is not crossed.

Congrats to you and your better half, Bob! I had a bottle of 2014 Ultramarine BdN on Saturday evening... for sake of argument, lets say that a glass was raised in your honor!

As shucks, thanks you guys. You make me want to blush.... or is it drink blush?

BTW - I gave that Heidsieck the highest score I've ever given a wine - 97.

I still rate the Mrs a 100

NV Château d'Arche La Perle D'Arche

Thought I would pop something special for NYE but this ended up being the choice - and you know what? It is really good!
Maybe the best $20 bubbly I've ingested

Cheers CT friends! May 2023 bring joy and prosperity to you and those you love

Kicked this evening off with a very refreshing Bruno Et Christiane Olivier Chapitre Extra Brut that got the juices flowing nicely.

A weird schedule this week put me in the mood for a rosy SS:

NV Dourdon-Vieillard Champagne La Gourmandise de Désirée Rosé

2015 Dulcinea Santos Ferreira Sidónio de Sousa Rosé Special Cuvée Espumante

Both, quite plausible

It had to be done. This forum is always so slow and sleepy on Saturdays that what better way to liven it up than with some bubbly conversation.

Come on, who's gonna play along?

No bubbly for me today, but I did open a rose' with a grilled bleu cheese burger. A sparkling rose' would have been a nice pairing.

Kicking my Saturday evening off with what is essentially my house fizz at the moment: Tristan Hyest Les Terres Argileuses Extra Brut. Going down very nicely as always, this evening with a tuna/salmon poké bowl.

Warming up for this evening's rugby with a rather nice Fernand Thill Grand Cru Brut Rosé... 8pm kickoffs in France are playing havoc with my sleeping schedule!

Paul, that RSA/Ireland match should be quite a tilt.

Just my luck... working today. I wonder if Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper will mind if I'm watching the rugby on my tablet at the mixing console

OK, so I know nothing about what happens before a gig, but it's a 12 noon kickoff your time - that's a long shift if you're already working at noon with a 11pm(?) finish.

Kicking off this Saturday evening with a rather pleasant Pertois-Moriset Grand Cru Rosé Blanc Extra Brut (I think it has that name because it's a rosé but the base fizz is from the Côte des Blancs). I wish the games in France kicked off at a time more conducive to sleep in Hong Kong!

Might as well add that Friday night, I really enjoyed a NV Gosset Champagne Brut Grande Réserve. Very rich and oxidative. I'll be looking for more.

Not sure it was stunning - they were never more than 9 points behind. It seems to me that Borthwick took off the guys who could actually scrummage too early.

Plus Farrell - can we please just get rid of him now? Ford would have been far better and not cost us 3 points for arguing with the ref.

I see where the loyalty goes
You're right, of course, on all counts. But for the ex-pat SA wife, she had all but given up hope at halftime. At the end... quite the party

Well this week, a rather nice Miniére F & R Influence Brut Rosé, albeit that it needed a bit more food than we had with it.

Paul, I couldn't help but think this would be right in your wheelhouse:

NV Casata Monfort Trento Rosé

Crazy good value at ~$20

Another great Italian fizz this Saturday - I Piccoli Vignaioli Prima Alba Rosé is a great example of a fresh wine made to be drunk young.

Oh, and Kung Hei Fat Choi!

Today I'm celebrating qualifying for the Hong Kong Scrabble team for our forthcoming match against Japan (such are the small pleasures of retirement). So a bottle of fizz: a rather nice Thienot Brut.

How does one play Scrabble between two countries with different languages and alphabets? Unless "Scrabble" is code for Arm Wrestling.
