This took a good healthy 6 hour decant before it shined. Great QPR if you can find it at you local Costco. I have three bottles left and will be buying more. Another outstanding wine from this Chateau.

never had a MacD that I didnt love and the 2018 is still a baby. beautiful bordeaux like nose. makes me think of a left-bank first growth (lafite)? love the graphite componant. blueberry, licorice, lavender, earth. so many things going on here. beautiful tannins and a mouthwatering long finish. love so much these wines. pound for pound among the best in the world. Certainly the best in napa, especially at the price point.

Deep ruby color. Strong aromas of milk chocolate, plum and tobacco. Off dry, full bodied, crisp acidity, medium tannins, great balance with amazing flavors of plum, cocoa, and dark cherry. The finish is so long I stopped counting.

It’s young but crazy good.

Orange in color, very pretty and unique.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and medium sized bubbles.

Dry on the palate with a nice mouthfeel.

Showing green apples, light grapefruits, yeast, light raspberries, citrus, limes, light earth, minerals and herbs.

This 16 year old is showing nice complexity at this point, and will continue to age nicely the next 10 years.

Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime.

Dom Perignon is not my favorite Champagne, but this one is really delicious. I got to call it when I see it.

Wine Spectator 97 points. Robert Parker 97 points.

Elegant and robust. I just love this vintage for Dom Perignon.

A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

12.5% alcohol by volume.

$500.

For those still doubtful of smoke taint, wine advocate just published their review, they sent the wine to a lab and it came back 4x over the threshold. It’s smoke tainted to hell.

4/20/2024 7:57:00 AM - Interesting comments. I am a pretty big fan of Ridge and being a trio wine club member, and for some reason, 2020 is the only vintage I did not get out of the past decade of being a club member. I acquired a vertical for 2013-2020 at an auction. I will taste it in a couple of months when it comes in. Did Ridge give you a refund? It makes me kind of scared of the 2020s because I just bought a 2020 Screaming Eagle, and I hope to you know that it is not smoke-tainted.

Double decanted for an hour and then tasted over the following hour. Dark red color showing no age. Ripe dark fruits on the nose. Great fruit on the palate. This wine is concentrated, and with a long finish. Maybe not yet some more interesting secondaries to come but this is drinking well with the decant and red meat and might improve slightly with time but no harm in drinking now with the decant. There were some very good to excellent 2009 Bordeaux in this evening and while this still shows it's New World fruit it does have a nice mix and certainly was among my favorites along with '09 Montrose and Pontet Canet (they too will get better with more time but the Pontet Canet seemed closer to ready than the Montrose). A-/A

Aroma: Blueberry, plum, nuttiness. Cassis, rich dark fruits.

Tongue: Medium acidity, amazing lenght, and fine grained tannins.

A really decadent wine, which was absolutely divine. It was very rich. (Please forgive me for this extremely middle class comment) it was hard to drink it all, due to its extreme richness. Dont get me wrong, this was amazing. But a full bottle between two, after a recent taste change to lighter pinots, was tiresome.

Overally, amazing i would recommend. But, this is a 4 person wine.

Grand vin !

Deep ruby in color, here you find truffle, dark chocolate, coffee bean, cigar box, black cherry and dark plums. Full bodied, elegant, velvety, opulent, sweet and fresh, the presence on the palate is silk and velvet in the texture with purity and sweetness to the fruits. The wine is hedonistic as well as intellectual, and a little bit firm. There is serious aging potential. The wine really sticks with you, for over 60 seconds in the finish. Give this at least 15 or more years in the cellar to develop before popping a cork.

On sale at Binny's so grabbed a bottle to try. Decanted for around an hour, paired with grilled Ribeye.
Pours deep purplish. Nose is black cherry, plums, dark berries, vanilla(?).
Tasting is an absolute fruit bomb, a juicy, fruity explosion of concord grapes, blackberries, cherry coke. A little more silky than expected but very fruit forward. A bit sweet and one note for my taste, bordering on syrupy at times. Don't think I would buy again for myself but I'm sure it would be a fine "crowd pleaser" for casual consumption.
At less than $40 it's a decent QPR for Napa fruit (allegedly of Caymus provenance) if you like the fruit bomb style.

En Primeur campaign for the 2022 vintage Day Four (Bordeaux): Black fruits; blackcurrant, sweet spice, a little toasty biscuit note. A touch of plums, a sense of power but not as overtly clumsily concentrated as the other wines from Ducru Beaucaillou that are here today. Medium plus intensity acidity, a very slightly sour underpin to the black hued fruit again monster level tannins are chewy, drying, broad, big and bolshy but the fruit persist on the long finish. Woof. Very slight bitterness on the long finish.

Wow, what a wine. Deep density of anthocyanins and tannins. This vintage is part of triptych of amazing wines including the 2018 and 2019 vintages. Getting the big words out of the way, this wine is a deep (I mean deep) purple in the glass. First the nose is dark fruit and some goodness I can't find the words for. PNP for the first glass and decanted the rest. Thinking there is no way this is going to be drinkable this young but the nose was so intoxicating and took a sip and it had succulent fruit that makes you put the glass down and just sit there contemplating on how magical this elixir is. The tannins are so well intergraded you hardly notice them till you finish the sip, they say hello and pleased to meet you with gracious opulence. The finish is long giving you ample time to process the flavors of the cab/merlot blend. IMO this is was defines a Grand Vin and what others one should stive to be. I had a WSET level 3 (along with some other letters next to her name) try this she was just as blown away as me. To wrap it up ch. Ducru Beaucaillou has given us two years of excellent wines and this one to cap off their 300 year anniversary run. And what a sexy bottle that holds one of the finest wine I have ever had. If you see it buy it!

Got a six-pack of these so wanted to try one. This was a bit firm, even after an hour decanting, showing its youth, but the last glass was particularly delicious. i tend to like this Chateau and the quality has stepped up a little but so has the price. Hoping I can forget about these for at least another five years as they will surely show better then, but the quality is quite apparent already - just a bit tightly wound to justify opening more any time soon.
