Wow, what a wine. Deep density of anthocyanins and tannins. This vintage is part of triptych of amazing wines including the 2018 and 2019 vintages. Getting the big words out of the way, this wine is a deep (I mean deep) purple in the glass. First the nose is dark fruit and some goodness I can't find the words for. PNP for the first glass and decanted the rest. Thinking there is no way this is going to be drinkable this young but the nose was so intoxicating and took a sip and it had succulent fruit that makes you put the glass down and just sit there contemplating on how magical this elixir is. The tannins are so well intergraded you hardly notice them till you finish the sip, they say hello and pleased to meet you with gracious opulence. The finish is long giving you ample time to process the flavors of the cab/merlot blend. IMO this is was defines a Grand Vin and what others one should stive to be. I had a WSET level 3 (along with some other letters next to her name) try this she was just as blown away as me. To wrap it up ch. Ducru Beaucaillou has given us two years of excellent wines and this one to cap off their 300 year anniversary run. And what a sexy bottle that holds one of the finest wine I have ever had. If you see it buy it!
Bright crimson. Great definition on the nose with blackcurrant, fine spices and cedar. Fresh, svelte and delicious on the full bodied palate with waves of flavour and structured tannins. Fantastic persistence on the finish. So much potential.
deepish purple color, racy nose with a bit of liniment, cherry, strong ferrous and earth notes, on the palate a mirror image making for a wonderful and expressive wine, ideal ripeness as well, great length, very fine.
[****+ to *****, 2040+ a long wait, but it will be worth it]

With a dark hue, you instantly find incense, black cherries, flowers, spice, and a plethora of red and black fruits. The wine is concentrated, full-bodied, ripe, rich, soft, and polished. There is purity to the fruit, silk to the tannins, complexity on the mid-palate, and length in the finish. The fruit is bright, fresh, and pure with a beautiful sensation of elegance from start to finish. This gem should start to really unfurl after its 10th birthday and provide fabulous drinking for 25-35 years after that. This is a stunningly graceful Ducru Beaucaillou. Produced from blending 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19% Merlot, 13.5% ABV. Picking took place September 11 - September 30. Drink from 2027-2055.
