There's an intense, sweet strawberry note on the nose here, coupled with just a bit of volatility. This comes off a little more like strawberry jam than straight fresh fruit, and again there's a touch of volatility that makes this feel less clean and precise. In comparison to my previous bottles of this, there's a bit of a diffuse, muddy quality to this bottle. |

Indeed, plenty of bright red fruits on the nose and palate, with the slight bit of volatility distracting from the rest of the pretty nice wine. Not as intense and sappy as its older siblings. |

This veers a bit stewy for my palate, with cooked strawberries and a bit of balsamic. Leathery, high-toned, and volatile, and quite heavy-set versus some of my better experiences with SdC in years past. |

They're very pretty wines on the whole, but there's always a lightness on the palate that often feels lacking. Also, these earlier vintages can be a bit inconsistent. Others liked the SdC flight much more than I did; I wasn't a big fan. This bottle showed a distinct balsamic and strawberries volatility that I didn't care for, and there was more of the volatility on the palate for me as well. A darker, less than typical fruit profile, with the fruit coming off cooked rather than fresh. |

2/17/2024 - Tudz Drkl Likes this wine: NRSangiovese Study at Planque (Planque London UK): Balsamic vinegar and young fresh green compost on the nose that is all intertwined with chocolate and wet minerally soils. Spicy cherries drive a fairly powerful core of fruit that is surrounded by bright, textured tannins and ample spicy acidity. So so delicious! |

2/23/2024 - astroman Likes this wine: 97 pointsSoldera vs Stella (Gemma): Open at 12pm, slow ox in the bottle, drank about 730pm. Blinded. Cherry, some earth, leather with good finesse, heady aromas, Caressing on the palate, lovely elegance, touch of mushroom, still lots of red fruits on the palate with beautiful acid and complete. Stunning juice. Guessed this as Soldera due to the elegance and seamless palate, unfortunately was wrong. WOTN for many |

2/29/2024 - rocknroller wrote: 93 pointsLeap Day Lunch (Ciao Bella, Mpls): Very dark red color. This had a double decant and slow-O for 3.5hrs. Drank a glass over an hour. Hi toned and lifted on the nose and palate, exotic spices, dakr fruits, leather, red cherry, balsamic, anise and damp foret floor. The palate is full bodied, coiled, black cherry, blackberry liqueur, anise, coarse minerality and a touch of lacquer and bitters on the finish. Complex and compelling, likely has more to reveal. 93+(+)pts Thanks Craig!! |

In my mind there is no comparison for the Brunello made here, vintage after vintage they are in a league of their own. 2015 was a hot vintage, in this wine that heat is expressed through it's incredible intensity and the sweetness and ripeness of the fruit which reminds me of very old vintage port. There is leather and wild berries, and an array of florals and fresh herbs which takes you right to Tuscany. What really sets this apart, however, is that it is ethereal - weightlessness and intense power which are in absolute harmony. This finesse is only found in the very best wines in my experience. Brava, Stella |

Stunning btl w/ remarkable; fruit purity, intensity, complexity & lift! The structure was in check, but this always felt like a thoroughbred Stallion ready to buck me off. Nothing could be assumed but thankfully, the anticipated pleasure arrived w/ time in my glass over our long leisurely lunch. A '13 Canalicchio di Sopra CdP in the flight was also enjoyable but at the same time stuck at starting gate once this got going in my glass. High expectations on my part were met. Who knows what the ceiling on this wine will be? This certainly has the stuff to be a 20yr+ Brunello. One left to find out! 95+ once it warmed up a bit from cellar temp to low mid 60s. I had mistakenly left it in my chiller bag too long causing a delay in reaching its ideal temp at lunch. My wine of the lunch among several other very intriguing btls. |

2/9/2024 - Wine Canuck wrote: 95 pointsFriday Night at Dave's Place: This pours light ruby in the glass with ever so faint orange at the rim. The nose absolutely blasts rose petals, accented with touches of gravel, raspberry, cherry, toasted coriander seed, and a touch of VA. Very airy, elegant, floral, and appealing. The texture is well managed with the youthful brunello structure not too overpowering here. The wine enters on bright red fruit with medium plus tannin and medium plus acid. The finish has some bitterness but is balanced nicely against the red fruit and floral elements on which the finish lingers nicely. My first experience with this producer and it left a wonderfully positive impression. |
