5/12/2024 - LIE-user Likes this wine: 92 pointsStill doing great. Surprisingly dark in color. I guess this has a remaining life of 3-8 years (only when coming from perfect cellar conditions on the rather cold side as in my cellar). Even stood the test to accompany a main dish (grilled meat). |

5/8/2024 - grapenomad wrote: 93 pointsIncredibly tight at first, so needed to wait about 3-4 hours to get a glimpse of what this offers. Deep ruby red in the glass. Unmistakably Right Bank on the nose, with the dark fruit dominating the whole profile. Some baking spices, vanilla, hazelnut and earthy tones in there as well. Palate is silky smooth, almost too smooth for a Bordeaux, but I love it. Ripe tannins, high acidity, balance in check. Long, sweet-fruited finish with a hint of graphite. Approachable now, but will deliver for the years to come. |

5/4/2024 - Jeff Leve wrote: 98 pointsThe wine quickly focuses you on its floral characteristics paired with black raspberries, plums, black, with white cherries, dark chocolate, and just an edge of coffee beans. The palate however, is where the excitement takes place. The wine is opulent, rich, aromatic, concentrated, and long. The mark of freshness is there, but, you also experience the wine's elegance, and silky tannins, as well as its length, and width on the mid-palate, and finish. Interestingly, here, it was the moderate amount of sun hours that helped make the vintage as it shielded the grapes from the late summer heat wave. From a blend of 90% Merlot with 10% Cabernet Franc, 14.60% ABV. The harvest took place September 10-September 14. It is great to see continuing strong wines from the Durantou family. Drink from 2029-2060. 97-99 Pts. |

4/29/2024 - Rote Kappelle Likes this wine: 93 pointsIt is possible to mix the sublime with the ridiculous, as this wine shows. The sublime was the wine itself. Something of a wine eruption when opened and poured into glass, it also lived happily for 3 days in decanter (how did I not guzzle it before then? Weak gene pool, perhaps. I blame my parents). 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (3) |

4/15/2024 - toppcats@aol.com Likes this wine: 96 pointsMid-neck level. Cork noted to be solidly in place, removed intact via Durand. Cork edge purple with no seepage noted beyond the corks edge. Slow ox for 2 hours and poured with an aerator.. Color- translucent edge leading to opaque garnet with a purple tinge. Nose noted to be complex with sense of sweet red fruit/strawberry, chocolate, sweet savory spice, with a touch of licorice and vanilla (no element of smokiness was noted with this bottle). The nose however, despite the complexity, was somewhat muted (?still a bit closed). Palate - Rich red/dark red fruit (predominantly strawberry and ripe cherry), with hint of chocolate, and savory herbs. Medium to full bodied, with lush-light- silky mouthfeel , and ending with mouth coating, but soft, tannins, Wine was easy to drink, with fresh acidity, elegance, and beautiful balance which improved with time. Started with an early 94/95 scoring which I brought up to 96 with time as all of the wines elements came together. |

3/10/2024 - rmh66 wrote: 95 pointsShort-ish decant, could have used more air. Aromas of blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, cherries, minerals, flowers, damp earth, and an interesting campfire note pour of the glass at first, though with air they settle down. Not a huge note really, but quite plush. Blackberries, cassis, tart cherries, plums, graphite, minerals, earth, and incense on the palate. Mouthwatering acidity, grippy tannins, long-ish finish. Full bodied. So much earth and minerals and incense on the finish, you want to just keep drinking. Really interesting and delicious. Dang, I guess I'm shopping for another bottle. |

3/9/2024 - Jeff Leve wrote: 96 pointsElegance, freshness, refinement, and concentrated, layers of plums, black cherries, chocolate, flowers, wet earth, along with a hint of espresso come together in the nose, and on the palate. There is ample depth, vibrancy, freshness, and complexity with a chalky edge to the finish that wraps everything up perfectly. The wine blends 85% Merlot, and 15% Cabernet Franc. It is great to see continuing strong wines from the Durantou family. This gem is one of the wines of the vintage, and not much was produced. If this is your thing, grab it now! Drink from 2026-2055. |

Nose with doses of finesse, aristocratic aromas that make up an authentic perfume. On the contrary, in the mouth it is unbalanced, astringent and absurdly short. According to this bottle, it is not exactly recommended. |

2/7/2024 - John McCabe wrote: 94 pointsIt's been about twenty years since I had a bottle of wine from this Chateau, and the last one was the '86 if I remember correctly. This was quite satisfying, considering the off vintage, though I've generally found '11 to be underrated. This had a lovely ease about it - some beautiful dry, chalky limestone structure which I appreciate - I've also found this with Ch. Clinet too, which I'm guessing is not too far away. The fruit is there, though a bit muted and restrained. Overall, the wine is not so flamboyant or showy (as I'm guessing it might be in better vintages), but the quality is apparent and nothing is awry. This set me back about $125 plus tax, and I think the price is fair for an introduction to this wine, considering a good vintage would be >2x that or more. Very pretty, delicate, but just enough structure to provide weight and bearing too. |

I love all the fresh, dark-chocolate coated cherries, silky tannins, freshness and the dark chocolate end note which comes along with salty, dried plums. At 20 years of age this has reached maturity. Drink from 2024-2038. |

12/31/2023 - Lord of the Bottles Likes this wine: 97 pointsTaken to a friend’s house to celebrate to celebrate NYE. Incredibly concentrated boysenberry and blueberry with a long finish. Some plum and emerging green pepper. Superb balance and up there with bottles of 2000 Trotanoy we have had recently (96-97). However, unlike the 2000 Trotany which is in prime time this bottle of 2010 L’Eglise Clinet seems too young and would be better in a number of years. 97/100 |

12/25/2023 - Winedog1 Likes this wine: 97 pointsChristmas pairing. 1) Willett Family Estate Bottled Single-Barrel 8 Year Old Straight Rye Whiskey 2) 2014 Chateau L'Eglise-Clinet 3) 2018 Turley Zinfandel Old Vines. The Bordeaux showed very well. It strangely reminded me of the Clos Apalta imbibed the day before, but this was not closed down. I picked up mint on the finish. This was a very early test of the 2013 intended to be laid down for much longer; I am really pleased with the results. |
