  • It's been about twenty years since I had a bottle of wine from this Chateau, and the last one was the '86 if I remember correctly. This was quite satisfying, considering the off vintage, though I've generally found '11 to be underrated. This had a lovely ease about it - some beautiful dry, chalky limestone structure which I appreciate - I've also found this with Ch. Clinet too, which I'm guessing is not too far away. The fruit is there, though a bit muted and restrained. Overall, the wine is not so flamboyant or showy (as I'm guessing it might be in better vintages), but the quality is apparent and nothing is awry. This set me back about $125 plus tax, and I think the price is fair for an introduction to this wine, considering a good vintage would be >2x that or more. Very pretty, delicate, but just enough structure to provide weight and bearing too.

  • Drinking Amazing!

Primary notes are hanging around, secondary and tertiary notes are evolving and developing.

A real treat and a beautiful wine made in a difficult vintage

  • This is a well-made wine with finesse and elegance. However, I think this is a wine we should drink young. I would give it more points if I meet this wine 1-2 years earlier.
Medium garnet. The nose is still fruity with some tertiary note, such as graphite and forest floor. Tannin is resolved. Finish is long and smooth.
I think the wine has only very limited potential to age due to its low residual tannin and may go downhill in a few months to 1 year.

  • Medium garnet. The nose here was expressive already with some lovely tertiary aromas emerging around truffles, forest floor intermixing with dark fruit. A success for the vintage.

  • 6 hour decant in glass. Inky, dark red w/ burnt orange edge. Nose of sweet cherries, newly tanned leather and plums. Palate: dark cherries, sous bois and just the slightest hint of licorice (before it opened up in the ~8th hour). Creamy mouthfeel with fully integrated tannins that are plush and silky; perceived somewhat on gums. Medium-to-long finish of red berries, stewed plums & sandalwood. This has the stuffing of a great wine, but just did not want to show itself. It lost points for intensity and length...I'm not sure it will gain in those areas, but I do think that it was too young / in a dumb phase and could increase 2+ points simply if it was open.
