4/4/2024 - huse Likes this wine: 94 pointsOutstanding Priorat wine, an old vines blend of 86 percent Carinyena and 14 percent Garnatxa Negra (organic viticulture) grow on vineyard sites with steep terraces and hillsides (llicorella soils) around the village Porrera (located about thirty kilometers west of the city of Tarragona, Catalunya). The wine was aged for sixteen months in new French barriques followed by a bottle refinement of eleven months. Deep ruby-red in color with purple reflections. Splendid bouquet with enticing aromas of violets, black cherries, licorice, sweet spices and a fine touch of oak and vanilla. The full-bodied and extremely well-balanced palate combines intensity with elegance, offering ripe plum and blackberry fruit, a silky texture, polished tannins and quite a high but finely integrated acidity. Long persistent aftertaste with some beautiful balsamic tones. Absolutely great yet but the wine will continue to develop for many years. Give it an hour in the decanter to open up. |

This is 50% Carignane, 25% Grenache, 16% Syrah, and 9% CS. 14.0 abv. The other had more Grenache which is a grape I enjoy. oak cherry leather licorice smoke |
