Nice, clean, leaner and much less oak, and very dialed back at 12.2% alc. I am not a big fan though. If I want to drink this style I'll just drink a good burg or chablis. Plus CA chards (and probalby most wines for that matter) are out of place coming in at 12.3% IMHO. That is even low for France, which has a cooler climate in most places. That being said, well-made, leaner, med+ concentration, green apple, apple skin, some minerality.

Amazing freshness and lemony, minerally aromas. Reminds me of the Western Australia chardonnays but more open.
Same mouth impressions, with a chalky component as well. This is far from the big Californian chardonnays from the past. More Burgundian in style but not yet the body of them. This is a lovely wine and very well balanced. Could drink this now but there’s a lot more in store if you wait. Will try against a Chassagne and a Yattarna next week…

Fantastic balance. Beautiful freshness that gives way to a richer finish. Fantastic wine that is drinking well now but I suspect is going nowhere in the near future!

This continues to be one of the best values out there for me. Oyster shell and saline qualities, tension good acid. Just enjoyable to drink and something I’d never say no to opening.

Medium garnet in the glass, fading to an orange rim.

Intense aromas out of the glass: ripe red cherry and balsamic soaked strawberry. Rose petal, old oak, Mushroom, forest floor and cola nut. Savory yet fresh and packed with fruit.

Flavors follow the nose, with a long finish of strawberry, cherry cola, and oak.

Mouthfeel is dry, with medium body, medium tannin, and medium plus acidity.

What a nice wine. Great salinity and minerality. Pours a very lightly straw color to the glass. Nose of herbs, yellow peach, melon and rosemary. The palate has a bunch of acidity up front but also quite a bit of salinity and mineral dense notes. More white peach and kiwi notes, honeydew, hot honey. Finishes with a lot of white pepper and Asian pear notes. Glad I have one more of these as I think this will probably develop pretty nicely within the next two to three years. If I can keep my hands off of them. And that's a big "If"

Nose showing citrus, some flint character but not as intense as other vintages, floral tones, and a subtle nuttiness. On the palate good acidity balanced by rich texture. Great tension and balance like the Lost Boys up against Captain Hook. Bangarang!

I picked up a 3-pack of these a couple months ago after seeing these for a steal-of-a-price knowing who is behind it. Fun and easy. Probably no need to hold these, but enjoy over the next year or two.

100% Chardonnay from Sanford & Benedict. 40 months on lees, 5yrs aging in bottle post disgorgement. Zero dosage.

Yellow in the glass bursting with copious amounts of bubbles. Bright and zesty! Lemon everything (grilled lemon, lemon zest, lemon tart). Crisp and refreshing on the palate with honeysuckle, sea spray, honeyed Granny Smith apple and a sweet lemon crisp note at the finish. While lean, it’s not austere like some zero dosage sparklers can be (Cali’s warm profile certainly helps). You’re hard pressed to notice this spent as much time as it did on the lees and in bottle with how bright it is. Nice for the $35 price.

13,2% alcohol. Tasted blind.

Luminous and pretty translucent raspberry-red color with a youthful, subtly blueish hue. The nose feels fragrant, nuanced and wonderfully perfumed with slightly wild aromas of brambly raspberries, some zesty Chinotto notes, dried flowers and phenolic spicy tones that suggest a little bit of brett, light crunchy pomegranate tones, a hint of lingonberry, a lifted touch of ethery VA and a faint, dank and herby whiff of pot. The wine feels ripe, juicy and silky with a medium body and youthful, slightly sweet-toned flavors of black cherries and ripe raspberries, some tart lingonberry tones, a little bit of pomegranate juice, light primary nuances of red fruit jellies, bretty hints of slightly bitter phenolic spices and orange zest and a touch of wild strawberry. The overall feel is fresh, balanced and enjoyably sinewy, thanks to the high acidity and firm medium tannins. The finish is dry, juicy and slightly grippy with a long, berry-driven aftertaste of raspberries and red cherries, some gravelly mineral notes, a little bit of tart lingonberry, light bitter notes of phenolic spices, a hint of wild strawberry and a touch of savory earthiness.

A beautiful, wonderfully perfumed and very harmonious Cali Pinot that is very fresh, lithe and delicate despite the fruit ripeness that adds a slightly sweet-toned dimension to the bright red-fruited flavors of the wine. There's also a tiniest bit of brett here, but its aromatics are from the spicy-floral-zesty end of the spectrum, not from the funky animal-barnyard end, which only adds to the depth and complexity here. The overall feel is still very youthful and noticeably fruit-forward, but there's still so much to like here already now. I'd leave the wine for at least a few years more, although I'm sure this will age and improve for probably another decade or so. A superb and eminently attractive Cali Pinot that tastes like Cali Pinot and not, say, Burgundy, yet shows exactly that kind of freshness and precision one can expect from a classic red Burgundy. Fantastic stuff.

Guests had gone and the wine of the night had been drained dry but my wife wanted another glass to sip while we relaxed, so I opened this and poured her a glass. I took a sip and thought it was about the same as my note from Feb '24. What a suprise when we poured a couple of glasses the following night - we couldn't believe how much weight it had put on. Suddenly I could see where all the reviewing notes were coming from. Will decant the rest of these for at least a couple of hours before drinking.

Pours medium gold. On the nose: creamy citrus, lemon candy, banana, white flowers, toffee, a little bit of caramel. The acidity is medium and balances nicely with a body that has some weight to it. Cooked citrus fruits and lemon preserves are prominent in the mouth along with a nice saline minerality. There are some toasty notes of age as well. The finish is surprisingly long and emphasizes this wine's complexity.

The past 11 years have treated this wine well. I've had this exact same bottling at release and I haven't been very impressed. It tasted ok, but rather anonymous. But this has really become something interesting. It's definitely not a young 'un anymore, but is in no danger of heading downhill soon.

A touch deeper golden yellow green; great as always, this shows a touch more weight, eggy golden yellow fruit, lemon candy, hint of butterscotch, a salty edge, good lift on the palate, really drinkable, developing slightly but should be good for a few years more before it shows significant development, a tremendous value as always.

A really quality expression here that outclassed the Chanin version of the same side by side. Had pleasant yellow apple fruit and rocks and white florals. Palate is long and sappy in the lemon spectrum with more mineral content here. Very nice.

From memory after half a year or so.

This is damn good Pinot Noir! it needs at least 3 hours of air. I love this style because I love handcrafted wines and this is it, plus the lighter style and freshness it brings with a boatload of fresh berry fruits. This will age is my guess but I love it as it is right now, its juicy and mouth watering and mind blowing good. 93+ for sure

My Mood: It’s Wednesday. Happy “Hump Day”, y’all! LOL Have had Chardonnay on my mind – need a “good” one to sip after work and before dinner…
Tasting notes:
Light gold in the glass.
Nose is citrus (lemon) and flowers (honeysuckle!) and minerals (chalk) and oak – this is a complex chardonnay!
The palette is rich – yet racy. Again, complex and after about 20-30 mins in glass very well integrated – especially the oak that overwhelmed me, at first sniff/sip - with notes of apples – not “bright” green apples like granny smith – more like fuji – kind of sweet apples, and a bit of lemony-ness, and a minerally feeling with plenty of acid, yet not TOO racy/crisp (which can be harsh). It’s soft – slightly – dare I say, “feminine”? There’s also the saline (slight saltiness) that permeates most Santa Rita Hills AVA wines – that I adore. I think it calms the acidity and makes a wine that much more balanced as it still makes my mouth water and want more…
It's a medium body chardonnay – with a slight creaminess and mouthfeel – but not flabby. It’s richer, less bracing than Chablis – yet has that kind of restraint and complexity. There’s been some malo conversion – but it’s in no way a “butter bomb” – it’s slightly creamy – not “buttery”, per se…
No tannins to speak of. As the wine warms up, more of the lemony-ness comes out… Medium finish…
This is a superb wine and I give it 3 glasses! 🍷🍷🍷More! More! More! Please!
For a chardonnay lover, like me, this wine is extremely easy drinking on it own, yet would complement a whole host of foods from appetizers to lobster (although I’m allergic) to chicken to white sauced pastas to many cheeses, complex salads, and more!
Excellent drinking right now. No reason to wait. It’ll hold another year, maybe two, or six – but why wait? I have 2 more bottles that will be drank up this spring/summer… (they’ll make more!!)
Scale = 1 🍷being “One is enough, thank you”, 2 🍷🍷meaning “We’ll finish the bottle, but may not purchase again, or we may wait and let it age if we have more in our cellar and revisit in a year or longer…”, and 3 🍷🍷🍷being – “Yes, please! Don’t stop pouring!!!”
Music pairing: 80’s - The Cure , "Just Like Heaven" and “Waiting for a Girl Like You”, Foreigner;
2000s and on: “Rain On Me” Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande and Adele, “Easy On Me”
Always remember, Drink what YOU like - not what someone told you to like/drink...

Very solid pinot with the legs to go another fees years if you like.

Still prominent fresh strawberry and rhubabrd with oak shoeing on the nose and palate. Importantly the tannins and acidity are well integrated and make this easy to drink glass after glass.

This bottle wasn't funky and I think represents good value at from the Wine Society.
