Was advised not to keep it for so long. After 7 years (2017) the Godello juice may av lost some acidity and citrus character. However, the mouthfeel is great (not too oily) and the almost golden colour is very delicate. More towards honey, dried apricot and dried yellow apple. A slight touch of oxygenized apple, so maybe a year to much in the cellar (my fault), but I really enjoyed it. Good length.

This is the wine that introduced me to Airfield. Yes, still a nice balanced Chardonnay that years have mellowed. Love the peach w a hind of lemon

So I'm drinking this with a new Conterno Sensory glass. While I am definitely of the belief that good stemware makes a difference, this wine is really drinking great today, and I'm trying to decide if it's the glass or the wine (or maybe both).

Red fruits and tar soar from the glass, and for a hot vintage, this wine is nicely balanced with decent acidity. I have had less stellar bottles in the past, but at 25+ years of age, this is really nice.

A nose that exudes pleasure, "ça pinote" with a trace of menthol which gives it a racy side.

Peppery, digestible and traceable on the palate. The juice is thin, on a basket of red fruit of absolute flavor, undoubtedly less structured than a Pinot Nuiton but what efficiency and what pleasure! Nice balance, and nice spicy finish with notable length.

Very good!

From Magnum. Both the nose and the palate have developed nicely. This has an old world soul to it now. It's quite restrained. Acid is higher than I expected but balanced by a good amount of fruit. Mouthfeel is a little dusty. Finish is long. Great bottle.

Purchased at Aita restaurant. Wine is a merlot, served chilled.
Carbonic maceration fermentation and made without sulfites.
Purple color.
Nose offers some fresh plum and perhaps concord grape notes.
Light fizz on the intro with fresh and lively juicy fruit. Good acidity that keeps the wine fresh and inviting.
Quite delicious.

Paired well with a variety of pastas with both seafood as well as oxtail ravioli in a brown butter sage sacue.

I have never tasted this vintage well and I still understand the prices charged.

In Magnum.

Nose of morello cherry, cherry and undergrowth. There is this rustic side that I don’t necessarily appreciate.

Quite austere on the palate, juice with slightly high acidity for my taste, perceptible woodiness... A little morello cherry, a little undergrowth and here we are already at the finish of this wine which remains monotonous.

Fine, but nothing more.

Ripe raspberry fruit with phenolic, carbolic soap on the nose. Bretty, horse pat palate; astringent finish.
Heavily affected by Brettanomyces at a level that I will classify as a defect, but it's unlikely a bottle issue, but a batch problem.

Screw cap. Tasted chilled.

Very pale pink, almost clear. Near-zilch Nose. In mouth some decent flavours - some of them even sustained long enough to be interesting. Dry side of medium-dry, not actually dry. Zero mineral profile, though in previous years that’s being there.

A bit of dry cranberry, some light strawberry, a little white tannin grip - very little - a light commercial Rose that’s just good enough to stumble through the ‘Will buy again’ door. I’ve had better vintages than this 2023.

Bought for £7.50….it feels worth that, just.

Colour: medium garnet
Nose: medium(+) intensity, tertiary, developing. Red and black plum, plum jam, bramble, cassis. Tamarillo. Black pepper, tomato stem. Some savoury character and maybe the start of forest floor character.
Palate: dry, medium acidity, medium(+) tannins, medium alcohol (13%), medium bodied. Medium intensity, short finish. Red and black plum, plum jam, bramble, cassis. Tamarillo. Black pepper, tomato stem. Some savoury character and maybe the start of forest floor character.
Conclusions: good -- let down slightly by the short finish. Can drink now, but suited to further ageing. P&P (pop&pour), not decanted.
Seal: DIAM2 cork
Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon.

Tannins are almost undetectable. Thought this tasted a bit like a wet cardboard box. Disappointing but that’s the risk you take with old vintages. I have a second bottle that I will drink soon and then settle on a final score. This may have been a bad bottle.

In Jeroboam

Nose which will remain very discreet for a long time, spices, licorice and black fruits.

Very supple on the palate, the 14.5% alcohol content is not perceptible. The triptych of tobacco, liquorice and spices dominates on the palate, but with a nice freshness. Sensation of a linear wine. Smoky finish, good length.

Very good but the impression of a wine very (too) calibrated to give emotion.

70% Garnacha, 20% Cinsault and 10% Carignan and Clairette from a small vineyard located in the town of Tavel, of old 60-year-old vines planted in clay and limestone soils with sand and gravel. Carbonic maceration in old oak barrels. Spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, 12-month aging in demi-muids, neither filtered nor clarified. Red fruit, floral, spices, concentrated, subtle, elegant, intense, persistent and long. This is very fucking good!

For the money, I think it's one of the best offerings from the appellation. Medium garnet hues with a splash of purple on the edges. Bright raspberry, cranberry, grapey nose. Bold raspberry and rosemary flavors with firm tannins. Not a powerful syrah but nicely balanced with a medium finish. Will pick up a few more bottles soon while it lasts.

Aerated for 1 1/2 hours, served in a Spiegelau Definition Burgundy Glass. Pale gold colour.

Nose: Tart red apple, pear and peaches at first. Notes of orange blossom, dried herbs, lemon grass and yeast arise. Crushed stones and wet stones come through as well, Lemon zest and lime juice on the way out.

Palate: Yellow apple, peach and hints of pear on the palate, notes of herbs soon after. Very fresh acidity, bright salinity and slight viscosity. Orange blossom, lemon zest, lime juice and wet stone on the finish.

Bought for 23€ at the winery, for that price this wine might be one of the best of the Südsteiermark. Great depth of flavour and structure, really goes to show what an underappreciated varietal like Welschriesling is capable of.

Cloudy medium dull ruby - a little musty ? TCA ? but eventually blew down a little to see advanced stewed cinnamon spiced strawberries. Should this represent accurately where this wine is it appears advanced and should be in the short line to drink. Damaging heat exposure may have contributed to this advanced specimen as it was purchased in 375 format upstairs in a wineshop in Madrid with a stuck seal and a stripe down the back - cork was flat however - and an adjacent ‘16 Dofi in 375 format while fresher and without a hint of TCA still seemed advanced. Maybe house style? Mogador and Manyetes from vintages around turn of century and some later drink with more freshness and vivacity.

Has a touch of the under-ripe black fruit character to the nose. That follows through on the palate as well.

Bright, zippy, and juicy, with lots of clear red fruit - sour cherry, strawberry, and raspberry. There wasn't a lot of complexity beyond the fruit so it's a little on the simple side. Tasty, but kind of pricey for what it is.

In Magnum

Nose of strawberry and spices.

Very classic palate, there is a touch of wood, but above all beautiful floral aromas. It’s tasty, with lots of character in the second half of the palate where the spicy strawberry comes back like a boomerang. Beautiful acidity which draws out a dense juice. Finish with silky tannins, almost ferruginous with good length on black tea.

Excellent.

Nose: Ripe red apple pastry, brioche and citrus.

Palate: Ripe red apples, brioche, almond pastries, stone fruits and minerals. Fresh crisp acidity, very well integrated mousse and long finish.

From a single plot called Le Mont des Tours. Deg 12-21, Dosage 2gr/L. When you first put it up to your nose, it's like walking into a pastry shop followed up by citrus. Quite Vinous nose. Great mousse there are a lot of bubbles, but they are soft and well integrated. Nice freshness to maintain balance and long finish. Great value at 90 euro, I would almost call it a steal.
