caramel colour and distinct note of oxidisation which I don't mind in champagne. a lovely start to evening.

one of the more forward and accessible Rousseau Chambertins I've had, partly helped by the sommelier deciding to double-decant 2.5 hours ahead of drinking. complex and intense on the nose, not as massively structured as one would expect on the palate. would love to try it without decanting next time.

4hrs double decant. while still alive with pleasant notes of tobacco and spice, I thought it was a little over-breathed and lost some of its energy.
