Tasting, brief note. More black than red fruit, moderate depth. Simple, but good fruit overall and good for its level. From vines just near Gevrey.

Red
2014 Domaine Arlaud Gevrey-Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Tasting, brief note. Black and blue fruit with meaty, animale character that I like as it really shows Gevrey. Same for its firm textures. Good+ for its level, 87-88 point potential.
Red
2014 Maison Arlaud Vosne-Romanée France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée
Tasting, brief note. I guess this isn't "Domaine Arluad," but rather "&Arlaud," the negociant label. Very pleasant with good spice, modest fruit. Very easy to enjoy for near-term consumption.
Red
2014 Domaine Arlaud Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Aux Chéseaux France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Good fruit, more black than red, ok spice. Somewhat burly, slightly rustic finish. Good for its level.
Red
2014 Domaine Arlaud Charmes-Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Tasting, brief note. Black fruit with dense, meaty character. Good concentration, good length. Very good for its level.
Red
2014 Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Chambolle-Musigny France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny
Tasting, brief note. Red berry, slightly floral with savory spice. Very well textured with a ferrous minerality on finish I always associate with Chambolle. Good length. Very good for its level.
Red
2014 Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Procès France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. All black fruit with meaty character and good spice. Maintains youthful/ vibrant energy and elegance. Good length. Very good for its level.
Red
2014 Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Red berry throughout with moderate concentration. Subtle spice, but classic. Very elegantly textured. Very good for its level.
Red
2014 Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Echezeaux France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
Tasting, brief note. Red and black berry on nose and palate with serious concentration, even if slightly backward for right now. Very long and powerful with VG potential, this just needs patience.
Red
2014 Domaine Bruno Clair Marsannay Les Longeroies France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Marsannay
Tasting, brief note. Very Gevrey character with black fruit, meaty character and animale. Very good fruit, very good concentration and good length and balance. VG+ for its level, 89-90 point potential.

Red
2014 Domaine Bruno Clair Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Black cherry and plum ere with meaty character that is prototypically Gevrey. Firm middle, very good length. Power on finish. VG for its level.
Red
2014 Domaine Bruno Clair Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. A small step up vs Cazetiers. Black and red cherry and berry is quite nice, spice is modest. Very nicely balanced, I'd just like a little more concentration. Also very good for its level.
Red
2014 Comte Armand Auxey-Duresses Rouge France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Auxey-Duresses
Tasting, brief note. Red fruit, nicely spiced. Definitely good for its level, probably a very good value wine.
Red
2014 Comte Armand Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru Rouge France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. a clear step up from the Villages level. Better fruit concentration, but clearly more floral and spice elements here. VG for its level.
Red
2014 Comte Armand Volnay France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay
Tasting, brief note. Blacker fruit, slightly bitter and drying. I think this shows the ill effects of hail. Not classic. Good at best for its level.
Red
2014 Comte Armand Pommard 1er Cru Clos des Epeneaux France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pommard 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Ridiculously low yields due to hail (10 ha/hl?) Red and black berry on nose and palate with moderate spice. Soft and elegant start continuing toward an expanding finish. Great structure. Very impressive for this challenging vintage, 93-94 point potential. (I believe this is assembled, but not yet bottled.)
Red
2011 Comte Armand Pommard 1er Cru Clos des Epeneaux France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pommard 1er Cru
89 points
Tasting, brief note. Great red fruit, subtle spice, earth notes emerging early. Slightly coarse on finish. I wouldn't cellar this long-term.

Red
2014 Francois Feuillet Morey St. Denis France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis
Tasting, brief note. Odd for MSD Villages, this comes across as a tannic, furry beast that just wants to burrow underground.
Red
2014 Francois Feuillet Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Aux Thorey France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Starts with good, dense fruit, gets more backward towards middle and finishes rather burly.
Red
2014 Francois Feuillet Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Sentiers France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Comes across as very Bonnes Mares with black fruit, lots of power and concentration. Needs time. Very good for its level.
Red

2011 Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Romanée France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru

Red

Tasting, brief note. Rugged black fruit with a rustic character. Good for its level.
Red
2014 Emilie Geantet Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Tasting, brief note. Also somewhat rustic but with a musty note I didn't particularly enjoy given the wine's age.
Red
2014 Emilie Geantet Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Champeaux France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Black fruit aromas with roast meat and spice hints. Good and similar flavors with good density a rustic character, but I like the overall package here. Very good for its level. Cellar at least 5 years.
Red
2014 Emilie Geantet Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Combe aux Moines France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru

White
2014 Domaine Heitz-Lochardet Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Very reduced. Apple and lemon with a tart finish, but I think this is distorted by the reduction, so tough to fairly assess.
White
2014 Domaine Heitz-Lochardet Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Ripe fruit with spice and floral notes i great harmony. Very long and well textured. Also has a slightly tart finish that I'd expect to soften in a tear or two, so I think this has VG+ potential (92+ points), 2018 forward.

Tasting, brief note. Mostly red cherry, some black and blue fruit hints. Very balanced and forward for Pommard with a persistent elegance. Cellar a few years, and I think this has very good+ potential (92-93 point) from 2020.
Red
2014 Domaine Heitz-Lochardet Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pommard 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. More black and firm vs Poutures with very good concentration and far more tannic structure. This will be less accessible near-term and require 10 years in the cellar. Very good (90-91 point) potential.
White
2014 Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon Mâcon-Prissé France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, Mâcon-Prissé
Tasting, brief note. Another good wine that will most likely be very good value in this lineup. Bright apple, rounded textures. Good now.

White
2013 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru Charmes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Ripe peach with slightly sweet spice. Starts lush and fun, but engaging textures emerge middle to finish. Very good.
Red
2013 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Volnay 1er Cru Santenots-Du-Milieu France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Big red fruit throughout with even better spice and moderate concentration. Softens and picks up more elegance from middle to finish. I liked it better today vs earlier this month at La Paulee SF.
White

White
2014 Domaine Thomas Morey Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Baudines France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. More dense vs Chenevottes, also longer. Certainly less ripe. Alo good+ but with a leaner, more textural personality.
White

White
2014 Domaine Thomas Morey Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Ripe, forward and rich orchard fruit. Fruit drive start-to-finish, less energy here, but still good length. I'd think this best young.
White
2014 Domaine Thomas Morey Chassagne-Montrachet Clos St. Jean France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet
Tasting, brief note. Orchard fruit with tropical hints with very good concentration. Modest acidity, better minerality. While I slightly prefer the Embrazees, this was a close 2nd amongst these 5 Chassagne 1ers today.

Red
2014 Domaine Rion Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos St. Marc France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. More firm, tannic and dense vs Argillieres, but greater concentration. Still retains nice level of finesse and elegance. I slightly prefer the earlier wine, but can see how Clos St Marc will be better in a decade.
Red
2014 Domaine Rion Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny
Tasting, brief note. Reductive start. All red fruit, bright underneath with good textures. I like the middle but find the finish drying, however am not sure if that is the result of reduction. Needs time, but judgment reserved.
Red
2014 Domaine Rion Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Black and red cherry with some plum notes and new oak hints. Middle-to-finish this becomes increasingly classic with bright fruit, crunchy textures and lots of precision. Give this some time, but VG potential.

Red
2014 Domaine G. Roumier / Christophe Roumier Bonnes Mares France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Tasting, brief note. Racked for bottling just yesterday. Wide array of black and red berry and cherry. Long, powerful and expanding finish, but without coming across as heavy. Great for its level in this vintage.
White
2013 Domaine Thenard Givry 1er Cru Cellier aux Moines Blanc France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Givry 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. A little too tropical while also too simple at the same time. Good enough for near-term enjoyment.
White
2013 Domaine Thenard Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
Tasting, brief note. Floral nose with lots of apple. Some tropical hints, not it's barely a distraction. Ripe apple, baked apple and spice flavors with a perfumed mouthfeel. Long, long, long, lingering finish. 93-94 point potential for me.
Red
2014 Domaine Tollot-Beaut Chorey-les-Beaune France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chorey-les-Beaune

Red
2014 Domaine Tollot-Beaut Corton-Bressandes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
Tasting, brief note. Array of cherry aromas and flavors with some plum in the middle. An elegantly styled Corton that will drink nicely in the medium-term and very softly textured for the vineyard. VG for 2022 forward.
Red
2014 Domaine Trapet Gevrey-Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Tasting, brief note. Fresh black fruit already nicely balanced with subtle animale and spice. Forward for Gevrey, VG for its level.
Red
2014 Domaine Trapet Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Petite Chapelle France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Black plum and cherry, dark, meaty and brooding. Half whole cluster we were told and some of that spice and perfume comes through, but just faintly right now. Certainly good for its level but plenty of patience required.
Red
2014 Domaine Trapet Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin Grand Cru
Tasting, brief note. Ripe black fruit to start, which continues all the way through to the finish. Surprisingly accessible now for Chambertin, with faint hints of how/ where this will evolve. Certainly VG for young Chambertin, but I found it tough today to get much sense of its journey forward.
Red
2014 Domaine Joseph Voillot Volnay France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay
Tasting, brief note. Red cherry throughout, ever-so-slightly jammy to start, then an oddly bitter finish.
Red
2014 Domaine Joseph Voillot Volnay 1er Cru Les Fremiets France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note black and red cherry here with spice notes throughout. Moderate depth and length. Good enough for its level.
Red
2014 Domaine Joseph Voillot Volnay 1er Cru Champans France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Also black and red cherry with greater depth and density vs Fremiets. Slightly drying finish for now.
