Flight 1 - Young Mini Verticals (4 notes)

White
2013 Yves Boyer-Martenot Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
90 points
Caramel apple with botrytis notes, supported with toasted walnut and apple butter. Very atypical but very 2013, even if not particularly classically "Meursault." I liked this more than others did tonight.

2014 Yves Boyer-Martenot Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
89 points
Ripe orchard fruit coming across as fully mature, surprisingly advanced vs last bottle tasted earlier this year. Still good weight, but this gradually lost steam over the 30+ minutes in glass.
White
2014 Domaine Darviot-Perrin Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
90 points
Apple and lemon with good weight, better richness, also well balanced. Slightly less complex to me vs what I expect from top 1er Cru in a great vintage. Others enjoyed this more than I did tonight.
White
2015 Domaine Darviot-Perrin Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
flawed
Popped-and-poured I found this unacceptably reductive to an extent that never dissipated (after 20+ minutes), but others thought it improved with more air.

Flight 2 - More Young Perrières (3 notes)

White
2014 Pierre Bourée Fils Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
87 points
Dark color, but fresh enough. Overall enjoyable, but not at the level I would expect from Meursault Perrières, and certainly lacking the finesse and terroir.
White
2014 Domaine Jean-Michel Gaunoux Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
84 points
Restrained nose, palate bracingly austere. Good density but frankly little pleasure.
White
2015 Louis Latour Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
86 points
Ripe and enjoyable with good density, but frankly non-descript without any Meursault markers for me.

Flight 3 - Comtes Lafon and Pierre Morey, Single Blind (4 notes)

White
2009 Pierre Morey Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
93 points
Single blind in Lafon/ Morey flight. So much lemon and apple with chiseled minerality from start-to-finish, showing firm structural support at all times, just in the near background. So much energy on the finish. A great 2007, I thought this was the Morey 2007.
White
2007 Pierre Morey Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
92 points
Single blind in Lafon/ Morey flight. Powerful and dense with fully mature ripe orchard fruit. Very long finish. Very good now, but not quite as fresh, or at the same level as a couple of bottles opened in 2017. I immediately identified both of the Pierre Moreys from the aromas alone, but mistook the vintages.

White
2004 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
93 points
Single blind in Lafon/ Morey flight. Lots of ripe and tart apple plus baked apple. Certainly mature, but superbly complex and layered. A few years past its absolute peak (I had better/ fresher bottles in 2014 and 2017), but still so enticing.

White
2008 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
95 points
Single blind in Lafon/ Morey flight. Wow, this just exploded out of the glass with ripe orchard and stone fruit along with tropical hints. Further hints of savory spice and fresh, herbs. This seems so very ripe to start, but simultaneously bright and minerally into a very long finish. Consensus wine of the night.

Flight 4 - Mid Aged Perrières (3 notes)

White
2006 Lucien Le Moine Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Previous bottles were fantastic, but tonight's was certainly getting tired, although showing good density and holding together. One taster suggested this might get better with more air, which is very common with Mounir's wines. Alas, that was not the case with this wine.
White
2007 Albert Grivault Meursault 1er Cru Clos des Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
89 points
Apple and nut butter cam across as slightly tired aromatically, then brighter and fresher on palate, with a long-ish finish. Bottles from this case have been very inconsistent, and tonight's was not as great as my previous two opened in the past two years.
White
2010 Henri Boillot Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
92 points
Ripe apple and pear, but wonderfully bright and minerally. Aromas in particular are nicely supported by floral and nutty character. Starts richer, finishes more lean with a long finish. Very good now.

Flight 5 - Méo-Camuzet Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Perrières Vertical (3 notes)

Red
2004 Méo-Camuzet Frère et Sœurs Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
88 points
Single blind in 04/05/06 vertical. Popped-and-poured. Slightly green and herbaceous but still fresh and good balance. Easily identified as the 2004, but a relative success for that problematic vintage.
Red
2005 Méo-Camuzet Frère et Sœurs Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
flawed
Single blind in 04/05/06 vertical. Opened an hour before serving. All black fruit. Started out as both backward and slightly dirty. More air brought out more fruit richness, but there also seemed to be some faint heat damage or other form of oxidation, so an imperfect bottle, despite clearly having lots here. Most of us correctly identified this as the 2005 based on its still firm tannins.
Red
2006 Méo-Camuzet Frère et Sœurs Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
92 points
Single blind in 04/05/06 vertical. Opened an hour before serving. Ripe black and red cherry with spice more reminiscent of a fine Vosne 1er Cru. Nicely dense, wonderfully fresh, very well balanced. Very good right now, probably good for another decade+.

Flight 6 - Palate Cleanser (1 note)

White
2017 Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs-Gain France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
91 points
Popped-and-poured, this was much more accessible vs when tasted one year ago. No reduction this time, just an enchanting aromatic start that is floral with both tart and ripe apple character. Palate is slightly less complex, but balanced and fun. The austerity from last year is gone, this is drinking well already now.

Flight 7 - Hommage to Mark Tarlov (1 note)

Red
2016 Rose & Arrow Pinot Noir Yamhill Close USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Yamhill-Carlton
90 points
Tasted double blind. Red cherry and berry with subtle floral and spice notes that made me think it from Volnay! Good lift with some earth notes on finish that made me think this older, Like everybody, I thought this Burgundy, mostly in the context of our Perrières tasting this evening, but it also seemed nicely elegant and minerally.
