Simple stewed fruit, raspberry smell. Tangy and light in the mouth, not much tannin, high acid. Touch of iron on the finish. Decent.

Heady smell, herbal, stones. Rich blue fruit. Slightly hot in the mouth, still enough acid to keep it fresh. Very good persistence on the finish. Very good.

Red berry fruit, some exotic spice. Herbal. Medium bodied, medium tannin but slightly coarse and drying. Lighter in body than the standard rasteau from the 2020 vintage. Very good.

Beautiful peach and floral smell, heady and rich. Low acid, presumably went through malo but isn't buttery. Round and fat but not oily in the mouth. Excellent persistence on the finish.

Honeyed smell, peach and floral. Rich and concentrated in the mouth, good juicy fruit. Less to smell than the 2020 C.d.P Blanc, slightly more nutty. Long finish. Excellent.

Subdued black fruit, plum, blackcurrant. Lovely herbal undertow. Powerful but balanced. Very fresh and clean finish. Excellent.

Sweet fruit smell, red berries, chocolate, some liquorice or tar. Not a heavy wine at all, but very good concentration. Long clean finish. Ready to drink but will last a few years yet.

Very intense smell, some oak, more red fruit and chocolate with some herbal notes. Lots of stuffing but well balanced. Seems almost ready to drink but will improve for many years.

Tight and closed on the nose. Strawberry and woody herbs. Rich in the mouth. Tart acid and a bit unforgiving at the moment. Excellent substance and concentration though. Taste again in a year.

Typical floral smell of muscat, lychee and other tropical fruit. Rich and slightly fat but truly dry. Bitter almond finish. Interesting wine. Very good.

Explosive fruit smell. Heady fruit, rose or rose hip syrup. Medium body, polished fruit. Good acid, juicy and refreshing. Very good and splendid value.

Floral expressive smell, the same floral or sweet herbal note as the standard beaumes-de-venise but everything is enveloped by a bit of oak. Good juicy fruit. Interesting medicinal finish. Very good, better once it all integrates a bit better.

Cool icy smell, slightly yeasty. Peach fruit, a touch of tannin, bitter almond. Savoury and satisfying finish. Very good. Perhaps a bit expensive at €19.20 per bottle from the winery.

*** Clairette, Grenche Blanc, Roussanne, 12.5% alcohol ***

Floral smell, slightly nutty. Strong smell on the nose. Slightly sour in the mouth, just about medium bodied. Refreshing but lacks concentration.

*** 12.5%, no wood ***

Strawberry syrup, very light colour. Clean and soft in the mouth. Not much to it but drinkable.

*** Grenache, counoise. 14.5% no wood, longer time on lees ***

Plum or blackberry smell, medium bodied, good concentration. Slightly hot on the palate. Drying finish. Decent.

*** Different blend to the classic beaumes-de-venise. Unsure about the vinification ***

Black fruit smell, perfumed and herbal. Sweet woody herbs. Medium bodied, approachable, relatively low tannin. A medicinal note on the finish. Very good, a lighter expression of beaumes-de-venise red.

Lovely smell, typical black fruit and sweet herbs. Structure and hefty tannins in the mouth but the fruit still very polished. Concentrated wine. The oak is present, especially tasting this after the other wines of the domaine. Good length finish. Very well balanced and satisfying.

*** 50% Syrah, 50% Grenache ***

Crimson rim, the syrah shows. Very unusual beaumes-de-venise. Fresher and lighter than the St Martin classic cuvee. Less tannin and body, similar herbal sweetness and fruit. Very good.

*** Drunk from a half bottle with a meal, not at the domaine ***

Fruit forward for St Joesph, blackberry. Tight and tannic in the mouth at the moment. Good concentration. Long finish. Very good.

*** 100% Marsanne, only large barrels ***

Floral smell, clean and fresh. Some nut smells. Good body and a lick of alcohol and fat. Nice clean finish. Very good value.

*** 15% Rousanne, rest Marsanne. 30% new oak. ***

Slight oak smell, floral peach nose. Medium, perhaps full bodied and a bit of waxyness. A bit of mineral and a good clean finish. Very good.

Not much on the nose, just lightly floral. Powerul and intense in the mouth, low acid and oily. Very mineral and long. Needs time.

Bright fruit, mostly red, soft of raspberry. Light to medium bodied, some tannin, medium acid. A bit flat and muddy.

*** 70% new oak, vielle vignes ***

Vanilla oak smell. Plenty of fruit, blackberry and cassis. Round mouthfeel, pleasant firm tannin. A touch sour in the mouth but this might need another year to settle. Pretty good.

Tar and pencil lead. Some chocolate and spice. Oak too. Attractive smell, suggestive of the power of the wine. Hugh presence in the mouth. Not yet enjoyable but promising. Excellent length.

Light mineral smell, icy. Some light fruit in the mouth. Good intensity, maybe white pepper. Tight, clean and slightly lean. Very good.

Bit of oak on the nose. Rich white peach fruit, fatter than the St. Joseph or St. Peray. Slightly boring flat finish. Low acid.

Somewhere between the white Crozes and the St Peray in character. A touch of oak. Mineral nose. Peach or pear fruit. Slightly indistinct in the mouth, but good concentration. Good.

White flowers, acacia or jasmine. Mineral smell. Lovely weight on the palate. High acid and medium bodied. Performs the magic trick of not tasting of very much but being intense. Long clean finish. Very good.

Pencil lead, a hint of oak. Intense black fruit and smoke. Dry and dusty but fine tannins. Good structure and presence. Will age for several years still. Excellent.

Pale colour, black fruit, blackberry. Bitter herbs. Sappy and juicy in the mouth, a mineral streak, very pure but slightly lean. Unusual St. Joseph.

Rounder, softer fruit than the Excursion. A touch of oak. Intense mineral spice on the nose along with the fruit. Quite tannic and astringent. Good concentration and a long finish. Intersting and satisfying.

Great smell, black fruit, smoke. Intense and rich. Dense and currently a bit unforgiving. High acid, high tannin. Needs a bit of time. Very good though.

Great smell, gamey black fruit, intense and dense. Pretty floral smells too. Tannin, acid and fruit all quite well balanced already. Grippy finish. Almost approachable. Excellent

Concentrated blackcurrant and blackberry. Explosive smell, cassis. Full bodied, high acid. Rich, deep and dense. Lovely.

Earthy and gamey. Lots of black cherry and blackberry. Intense and some smoke and spice. Excellent, beginning to mature nicely.

Ripe smell, vanilla oak. Peaches and cream and the floral smells associated with Viognier. Medium bodied and some decent freshness in the mouth. Slightly sour finish but still good condrieu.

Hint of smoke, ripe black fruit, gamey. Pencil lead. Beautiful nose. Herbal and medicinal in the mouth, violets too perhaps. Powerful in the mouth, drying tannins. Really excellent. Needs at least 5 years to settle down.

Slightly tough to taste at the domain as the bottle was freshly opened. As with all of these wines, they need a good airing.

Initially sewery which blew off to show limited fruit but lovely earthy gamey smells, some menthol. Still quite tannin and attractive fruit tang. Some iron and meaty smells. Very savoury. Great wine for those who like their cote-rotie on the earthy side.

Again, a slightly difficult tasting experience at the domaine due to no airing of the wine. Nevertheless, I've followed this over a few years from previous bottles.

A bit of brett initially, not unpleasant to my nose. Earthy, lovely violet scented blackberry. Mushroom and pork fat, black olive. Savoury finish, tannins well resolved. Ready to drink. Excellent.

*** 100% Syrah from various parcels in Cote-Rotie ***

Smoky, blackberry and plum fruit. Meaty, gamey and savoury. More full bodied than the gerine and denser, not as attractively scented in my opinion. Unusual dried lime scent on the finish. Very good.
