A very good vintage for Ruinart. Good combination of plush, round fruit with energetic acidity. Precise.

An outstanding Sancerre and my WOTF. Excellent rich fruit matched with vibrant acidity. Good balance of light grassiness with orchard and citrus.

So much richness and density to the fruit but felt like it was holding back a little. Perhaps a slightly closed bottle, yet still enjoyable.

An odd wine - intensely grassy and ripe, fat fruit. Not harmonious.

My favorite of the 3 Donnhoff wines. Nice freshness and medium body to the wine vs. the more heavy, concentrated 2005s. Feels quite young at nearly 20 years with plenty of off-dry sweet and RS remaining.

Much more powerful and ripe next to the more elegant side-by-side. Tastes quite primary and un-evolved. Upside from here?

More fresh and buoyant than I would have guessed for the vintage. Feels like this is losing some steam.

Very impressive, fully mature, concentrated Montrachet with layers of fruit, honey, mineral, and spice complexity while still fresh and energetic.

A fully mature Montrachet that is holding together nicely and showing age-appropriate maturity. Nice concentration and complexity but perhaps a little flat with time in the glass.

Surprisingly ready-to-go for a 2017 C-C with lots of stuffing, concentration and well-integrated acidity. Early peak drinking already.

Very approachable and providing loads of pleasure at this very early stage. Loads of fresh, bright, concentrated fruit with electric acidity. Fun now, but likely much better with age and development.

88/90/97 flight. Not as seamless as the profound 90, but this is excellent in its own right with beautiful smoky, earthy aromas and plenty of concentration with slightly gritty structure remaining. In a peak window.

88/90/97 flight. An outstanding vintage at Jadot and for the Bonnes Mares. So much concentration and so much nuance. Playful and serious at once. In the middle of a peak window, that should last for some time.

88/90/97 flight. An excellent vintage at Jadot where they over-performed by a wide margin, but this wasn't as complete or interesting as 88 or 90. Ripe but well-contained fresh fruit is less energetic and nuanced as the other two vintages. A very good wine, but not at the level of 90 for sure.

Felt like this still needed some time to come together. Component parts - particularly the rich, spice and meat filled fruit - were excellent just not yet harmonious. Acidity is well managed, which is a good sign in this vintage.

Rustic old school Burgundy, but missing any trace of Grand Cru Vosne character. Reasonably approachable for 2005.

Interesting but felt a bit candied and synthetic amongst the many great Red Burgundies tonight.

Pop n' pour with ~90 minutes of air. A gorgeous, mature Nebbiolo delivering on all the notes I love in mature Barolo -- dried florals, road tar, dried spices, old leather, and mature but still fresh cherry fruit. Palate has an ethereal refinement and suave structure. At peak.

A magical bottled that delivered on high/hopeful expectations. Upon pour this filled the air with gorgeous mature DRC notes of Vosne spice, stem spice, violets and mix of dried and fresh black cherry. Lithe and penetrating palate with a finish that goes on and on.

Nearly mature at 52 years young and my preferred minimum age for this monument of a wine. Excellent concentration of black and blue fruit, smoked meat with minty herb accents. Powerful with refined edges.

Lovely, enticing aromas. The palate is fresh enough but lacked any second gear.

Despite a 3-4 hours of slox-ox this was a brute with so much concentrated, meaty black fruit and not enough nuance. Delicious enough, but really needs more time or an extended decant.

Sticks out in the line-up of old world wines, but I appreciate the opportunity to taste this cult cab. I can see why people like these in a more veneered style.

Wow, this is more like it. Epic perfume of fruit, graphite, florals and spice. Rich but with a feminine curved quality. Long, long finish. My kind of BDX.
