The wine looks near colorless. Nose: lemon, grapefruit and apple. Body: light with angular, sharp texture. Very tart, acidic with tons of citrus notes especially lemon. Needs time in the bottle. Finish: medium.

Is this the follow-up to J PG' of the early 2000's? This is a simpleton, nothing like the past- lacks any complexity, light- bodied, fruit juice in character.

Ah yes! The flawed American drinking window strikes again. As noted by the 2007 tasting note, this is a wine with legs. Too bad most of it is probably already down our collective throats. Very much a surprise.

C- Medium purple N- earth, blueberries and herbs. T- Medium to full-bodied, softening tannins, good fruit expression, well-balanced.

C- Dense violet ink N- Herbal- ?basil, earthy and hint of mint T- Full-bodied, "big" wine, not for the faint of heart. Good angular tannins, big fruit- dark berries somewhat stewed. With 15.2% alcohol this wine is balanced and should drink well for a few more years.

Unsure about this bottle. Probably in a "dumb" phase because it was very restrained.

C- Deep purple/violet N- minimal even after decanting 1-2 hours early. Dark berries and jam. T- Medium to full-bodied, 2-3+ tannins with a slight bitterness that dissipated as the evening progressed. Fruity to the point of jamminess throwing it out of balance. Not a good value at this juncture.

Once again surprised by a value wine left for a longer period than one would expect it to last.

Opened and decanted- C- medium garnet, bright N- Fresh berries and some earthiness, blueberries T- Medium-bodied, soft tannins- some remeain that tell of a few more years on this wine. Balanced components with blueberries, cedar, and herbal characteristics.

We need to stop writing off wine too early.

For the price and if one knows what to expect this is a nicely priced Bordeaux that holds up well over time. Don't expect California fruit forward characteristics.

One of the most confounding wines of my experience. Began as a highly reated Dallas Morning News tasting panel wine and a case purchased at Red Coleman's on NW Hwy, this wine has never lived up to its potential. Slowly I have chipped away, one bottle at a time, using it to celebrate friend Stephanie's events. Each time I have been disappointed with high oak, minimal fruit, no body and absent integration and excessive tannins.

Finally after 16 years bottle came forth with a surprise. This had a great nose of roses, tar, currants and cedar. A more true to life repesentation of CS. The color was deep violet. On the palate one was offered a medium to full-bodied wine with soft, satinlike tannins. The taste profile was wide-ranging- violets, cedar, wet gravel, dark cherries, black currants and toasted sesame seed. The finish was long and reinforcing of the wine's complexity.

Never have I been more wrong about a wine's potential in its youth. Congratulation to the Dallas Morning News for this pick.
