After several years in the cellar, the wine shows both maturity and food-friendly finesse, starting with aromas of red cherry, raspberry and pomegranate with bittersweet chocolate, moist earth, minerality and woodruff. The wealth of acidity and modest tannin structure have been preserved, as have flavors of strawberry, cherry, cranberry and pomegranate.

A rich garnet color with a ruby edge, the wine opens to reveal lifted fruit aromas of bright strawberry and jammy fruit, mocha, and vanilla, along with toasty oak notes. Expressive boysenberry, blackberry, dark cherry, juicy strawberry, and toasty mocha flavors lend complexity and depth on the palate. The well-integrated oak provides structure and depth.

We were concerned that this wine was past its prime but surprisingly it has aged particularly well. With a concentrated ruby black and opaque hue, it offers abundant quantities of spice, vanillin, cedar, herbs, and smoke, soft, round, creamy-textured flavors, good black cherry and currant notes, and a spicy, medium-bodied, easy-going personality. Sadly it was our last bottle.

Color: purplish black, Rhone like. Incredibly ripe, rich, and bright fruit. Collaboration of blackberries, blueberries, crème de cassis, and violets. Generous wine, juicy, smoky, earthy, jubilant and just plain fun. Reasonable price.

Nose: Pepper marinated ripe plums. Blackberries too. Cedar, Smoked cherries.

Not too complex but, amazingly drinkable and satisfying. A fantastic, everyday Merlot choice as long as you have the discipline to open well before enjoying.
