I was a little bored with this bottle. Probably because I had just tasted a good Gran Selezione wine.

It was better the 2nd day.

An attempt to emulate Chateau d'Yquem. Not as honeyed as I would like, but still nectarines and white peaches abound.

Opened the bottle accidentally. It is a very restrained wine but still has delicious burgundy flavor.

Wine did not require a decant.

A DGW of the first order. Opened and decanted 4 hours prior to drinking. Decant was necessary in this case. A solid tempranillo casked in French oak, it opened up slowly both in the decanter and glass. Had a long finish to its dried pruny start.
White - Sweet/Dessert

Wine was truly ethereal. Drunk at the conclusion of the Vega Sicilia dinner we had on my birthday. Its rich, almost black color belied the deliciousness of the wine. Had caramel, honey and a cigar box finish that blew all other wines away.

Had it at Bresca with Ian & Cathy Cohn. Very reserved at first, then it blossomed into a restrained well-drinking wine.

Surprisingly fresh after more than a decade. We have great plans for the remaining 5 bottles.

Excellent cork. Came out with little problem. Easily identifiable as a cabernet.

Blizzard therapy. A typical rosso - lots of cherry, dark mysterious flavors that probably weren't there as a younger wine.

Drank as part of the blizzard therapy. Well balanced wine that is showing signs of drinkability. A balance cab-sauv with a long finish. Dark fruit.

Very solid Barolo. Opened it and let it sit for an hour. Brick-red, long finish. Some tar when I first drank it (initially). Later it was a different wine; lots of cedar and leather.

Drank w/Scott Van Hove & Ron Muelller. Taken to Rural Society where it was opened & drunk w/Argentine steak. A powerful wine that needed decanting (fortunately, they had decanters). It was still a baby!

Had for my birthday dinner. With a RARE steak, chorizo, arugula salad, gnocchi (with wild mushrooms) and Brussels sprouts w/pomegranate seeds (at Rural Society). Was good after a 1/2 hour; long finish on this one. Tobacco, leather.
