Lovely nose not typical for GC Rieslings.
Yasmin, apples, tropical fruit, lemon zest. Ripe, relatively rich. Medium+ acidity. Long harmonious finish. Could easily drink now but keep.

Coravin sample. Young fruity nose from cirtus and apples. Very young, almost raw taste. Mineral and citrusy, high acidity. Rather generic at this stage. Needs at least 5 years more in a cellar to motivate its price tag.

Find the 98 points awarded by Wine Advocate way too high. As a general remark I'm starting to get really put off by the inflation creeping into wine scoring more and more for every year. I may not be experienced and savvy enough to judge the future of wines but it's rather a rule than an exception that I disagree with upper 90 scores when I have tried the wines myself!?

Coravin sample. Started out with a sour cherries nose and taste but evolved very nicely into more autumn leaves mature notes. Very good fruit, slight earth notes. Very good acidity, integrated tannin. Drinks very well now and another 5 years.

Sweet complex nose of dried fruit and flowers. Good but low key acidity, medium rich, and almost off dry taste. Very good bottle but not as refreshing as I had thought.

Pungent smokey, cigar box. Dry Bordeaux character but so much more advanced than most Bordeaux would be at 12 years of age. Fruit still but a bit dried out. Fascinating though.

Sweet blackberry, voilets, licorice, black olive and oak. Low on tannin, floral sweet spicy fruit but with real uplift from good acidity level. Fresh and appealing. 93-94p. Should evolve nicely but drinks very good now as well.

An Enomatic sample from a just opened bottle. Wonderful and delicate nose of roses, strawberries and some oak still. Red fruit taste, superfine tannin, earthy Gevrey and acidity mingled to a superb balance. Softish but still dry. Leave another 10 years for better integration and complexity.

Another home run. As quality has been somewhat mixed, at least 2 out of 6 has been flawed so you never know. This second last bottle is just in a fantastic shape.
It's really rewarding to see how cellaring may just get you to the sweet spot of a wine. Notes very similar to my previous ones from 4 years ago, just more complexity.

From an Enomatic sample. So much pungent fruit on the nose. Strawberries are there but most of all black currant leaves. If smelled totally blind I would almost have thougth it was a Sauvignon blanc. On the palate full of fruit and spices. Fruit is like a caricature of black currant, reminding me of black currant wine gums! Very fine tannin and good acidity. An intrigiuing and weird wine. Don't know what to make of it (?)

Enomatic sample. Attractive but generic new world PN nose with spices and red, juicy fruit aromas. Sappy, fruity taste with good acidity and virtually without tannin. Medium plus richness. I can see why people may get divided over this wine (just check out and compare Galloni's notes and scores 93 vs Alan Meadow's 86!) at the same stage. I'm sort of divided over this one myself. Not bad at all but I would have liked some more structure to hit the balance right.

Tapped for a Coravin sample, no aeration. Closed nose not giving away too much. Slightly bitter and maybe over the top. Not bad but I had expected a lot more of this one. Will revisit with proper treatment before scoring.

Red fruit restrained nose, very restrained for a Californian PN. Very good acidity, fruit and fine grained tannin, just enough to give it structure. Fresh, pure and balanced. A tad linear in the sense it lacks a bit complexity but maybe this comes with more ageing. Really drinks well now though.

From a sampler. Peach, sweets, flowers. On the richer side, somewhat mellow but very appealing. Had expectations of higher acidity. Should get better, certainly got the prospects of building more complexity.

This came across as a typical Barolo with rose petals, smoke, tar and red sweet strawberry fruit . Rather earthy and rustic maybe, with good acidity and fine but grippy tannin. Dark cherry fruit which at this early stage fights and fails to come out and balance the tannin. Without food very tannic impression and a bit inky and awkward in the mouth. Just leave it for years to come. Should have a bright future but don't open before 10 years of age. 92-94p range.

Gooseberry and nettles, wax, honey hints. The SB is toned down but still shines through very distinctively. Tasty, mature, fresh, some bitterness on the finish. Overall in a good drinking stage.

Lovely oaky slightly oxidized character. Aromas of hazelnuts and cox orange apples. Rich and filling, a very food friendly wine that could absorb and accompany strong flavors. Burgundian richness. Have tried this before and it certainly meets expectations. 93-94p

Tasted 2014 Eva Fricke Schlossberg, Grosset Hill 2018 and 2016 Schönleber Fruhlingsplätzchen GG next to one another. Wanted to see how Grosset compared to these other two German rieslings.
Very shy nose compared to the other two. Hints of lime on the nose. Very dry and undeveloped taste. slight bitterness compared to Schönleber but in other respects quite similar features in the mouth. Less complex at this stage. Would be interesting to compare this wine in 5-10 years. Right now it doesn't quite match the German samples but I would give it the benefit of doubt. 91-93p range.

Tasted 2014 Eva Fricke Schlossberg, Grosset Hill 2018 and 2016 Schönleber Fruhlingsplätzchen GG next to one another.
Citrus aromas and white flowers, less intense than Fruhlingsplätzchen. Dry with some residual sweetness, somewhere between a spätlese and and a dry GG. Pure, clean with great fruit. Very nice.

From a sample from a magnum at Hedonism wines. Thick opaque color. Blackcurrant and blueberries juvenile fruit aromas and cherry kernels. Great structure with fine tannin, acidity and again black fruit and tapenade in the mouth. Smokey mid. Rich and full bodied yet it retains its elegance. An intense and persistent finish to top it up.
This should easily compete with the best Bordeaux, just give it another 10-20 years in the bottle. A shame to open it now with such potential. The best Aussie cab I have yet tasted and very left bank Bordeaux. 96-97p

Sour cherry and black currant, violets, licorice and spice. A lovely nose. Fine grained tannin, a deep sweet fruit core and a good dose of acidity. Beautiful balance. A lot of wine for that price point.

Nice complex nose with some evolution. Elegant and accessible with food. Good fruit and acidity to balance the fine but still unresolved tannin. Could have done with more time in the bottle. Should evolve really well another 10-15 years.

No real notes but this was the best wine of 3 Nebbiolos. Mature and with relatively resolved tannin. Still lacking in complexity, which may come with more age. Again 1996 don't seem to have the balance enough, too much tannin and too little fruit?

Another one flawed. Not completely undrinkable but again all three bottles have been well below what is just unbalanced. This bottle was acidic and flat. Somewhere after 1-2 hours the nose was really good but then it just died down.

Coravin sample. Closed on opening without any other markers than white pepper. Develops in the glass to show violets, herbs and blackberry. High acidity, earth, medium body, blackberry fruit, fine but present tannin. Could do with more years in the cellar. Keep another 5 years or so and then try again. Elegant with a nice finish.

Don’t know what it is but this is that Grivot perfume and spice again. This is starting to get mature forest floor notes. Medium to full bodied and with great balance. A multilayered wine with fruit, licorice and spicy flavors. Would not believe this was a 2007. 93-94p

Coravin sample from a new bottle. Starting do develop towards maturity with hints of molten leaves, dark raspberry, strawberry. Resolved tannins, lean but still generous fruit without tipping to heavy (like I remember the 2009 was). Good acidity levels and a very nice finish. Again this delivers better than expected. In a good drinking window. 92p

New bottle tapped with Coravin. Sweet spicey red fruit with wild strawberry and ripe raspberry. Deep and luscious aromas. Lean without being leafy, elegant, focused and feminine. Good fruit with clove spice, bright acidity, low tannin. Wonderful balance and a harmonius finish. Better than last bottle. Drink now and up to 5-6 years.
