Decanted for a couple of hours. Brought to Bonnie's and paired very nicely with grilled beef tenderloin with Gordie's mushroom and onion topping. Consumed with Bonnie, Gordie, and the Toad. Sophia was close by. The nose was singing when first opened but I think it may have tightened up a bit with extended air time. Regardless, this wine is delicious. Packed, tight, and dense, but with a wonderful attack and loads of fruit. Way more open for business than the first bottle consumed in early 2007 which was unyielding and incredibly closed. I'll wait a few more years to open the next.

Drank with Bonnie and VC the day after Christmas. Stunning wine really. Delicious and drinking beautifully now. Not closed at all. Jammy, clean fruit, good acidity and structure, with not a hard edge to be found.

Score reserved. From a .375. There's nothing going on right now as this baby is sound asleep or devoid of all fruit. I assume it's a matter of the former because this was open for business at one time.

Absolutely, pure deliciousness! Not a hard edge to be found on this gorgeous Napa cab. The nose offers a beautiful bouquet of classic, pure Napa fruit with not a whiff of alcohol. On the palate the wine is silky smooth with layer after layer of dark fruit and mocha. Extremely smooth and velvety with a subtle, sweet tannnin structure.

Once again, a solid 89 pointer. Very tasty. Popped and poured. With air the tannins get more noticeable, although not nearly as hard and bitter as those found recently in the 05 Pipeau.

Drank alongside an 05 La Croix St. Georges with the boys at Weber's Inn. Paired very well with the bone-in prime rib. Velvety palate feel. Smooth as silk. Absolutely delicious but not quite as good as the T6. A real crowd pleaser.

The Pipeau was double decanted the night before around 10:00pm. Massive nose of blueberry pie filling. A beautiful cross between an incredibly ripe Australian shiraz and a polished, sexy Napa cabernet. I couldn’t keep my nose out of the decanter. Poured back in bottle at 10:30pm and into the fridge. If the palate is half as pretty as the nose, I’ll be happy. Drank the next night. A bit austere and tannic, to be expected, at least the high level of tannins present were. Fairly concentrated with a lot of acidity and somewhat similar in profile, albeit not as powerful and palate staining, as the LaFleur (St. Emilion) and Clos Oratoire which followed.

Mom and Nik loved it but mom like the 05 Pipeau more. Very lovely wine with a smokey campfire nose mixed with blueberries and other dark fruits. The nose and was more refined than the Pipeau or LaFleur with mouthpuckering, sweet tannins and not at all austere.

Double decanted 6 hours prior to the dinner of ribeyes on the grill with Brett and Bridgett. Classic Napa nose with ripe blueberries and custard. Phenomenol concentration with a viscous mouthfeel. Very ripe black fruits with a super long finish. Seemed a bit lacking in acidity for my palate, although an overall very nice experience.

This is what Napa cab should be. Absolutely gorgeous nose of pure ripe fruit. Cassis and blueberries for days. Massive, explosive gobs of pure fruit on the palate. Not a single hard edge to this wine. So smooth, open, and ready for business with very soft, sweet tannins. No noticeable alcolhol on the palate with everything in balance. The only flaw that I could see, at least for my palate, was it was slightly lacking in acidity. What a great wine to drink on Masters weekend!

Wow! This wine is absolutely massive. The nose is ripping with blueberries, tar, rubber, and a hint of pickles that eventually blew off. Unbelievable concentration with stunning,mouth-puckering, sweet tannins that are incredibly over the top. This wine could use a nap and appears to have plenty of lush, pure fruit to withstand its siesta. I need more!

This was the first time I've experienced an aged Bordeaux of this caliber. I did not know what to expect from this wine. My friend purchased it from a charity auction a few years ago. We did not have an Ahh-So cork remover so removing the cork was a bit of a challenge. The cork was in excellent shape for a 46 year old bottle with the wine soaking it only about halfway up the cork. There was only about 1.5 cm of ullage. After some drilling with a waiter's corkscrew and a bit of straining the wine was on its way into the decanter to remove any sediment and excess cork. It was amber, dark tea-like in color. The nose reminded me of the sweet, almost stink-like odor a rose can sometimes emit. The wine may have indicated initially that it was a bit past prime. The flavor, however, was delicious. Unbelievably vibrant with puckeringly tart cherry that was mouthwatering. Some tannins still prevailed as was evident by the sweet dryness on the outside portion of the midpalate and inner cheeks. A great experience! Score reserved as I don't feel I really have a measuring stick with which to judge. Thanks Rosey! It was a memory I'll cherish forever.

Late night pop at Varmint's after the Ween show with all the tools. Black as night. Very unique smoky, caramel, toffee component on the nose. Seems to have settled down a bit since the last bottle I had. Very well balanced. No notice of alcohol on the nose or palate with gobs of pure fruit. Nothing fake about this wine.

Opened for my b-day but my girl wanted the glass so I stuck the remainder in the fridge for the next day. Solid bottle. Did not floor me, however. Have two left and will hold off on the rest. Very bright nose and decent mouthfeel. Seemed to be well structured with a fairly long finish.

Another 89. Solid wine. A little bell pepper on the mid-palate. Good amounts of fruit and tannic structure. Fairly silky on the mouthfeel. A bit of a funky nose with some heat coming through. Not as impressed as others. Alex was tanked tonight and fled the scene, even though he had a bed to sleep in.

Decanted 6 hours prior to tasting. Loads of alcohol on the nose. At times, almost overpowering. Some candied aromas...confectionary suger, as well as a green component that I did not find pleasing, green peppers maybe? A strange stewed fruit odor as well, at least that's what I think I'm smelling, as the wine was not oxidized. Good tannic structure on the mouthfeel with some looming fruit, however, again, overall disappointing.

I'm not sure if it's my nose or what, but several wines have had a distinct green pepper odor to me lately...not just the St. Pierre but the La Vieille Cure from 2003 as well. Decanted about 3 hours. The green pepper aspect did not show itself on the palate as much as the nose, however. Solid wine, in spite of the vegetal odors, which are not my thing. I'm not sure it's quite the QPR I was expecting at $40, though. Will revisit tomorrow.

Dacanted for a couple of hours. Initially, very pretty nose...a little alcohol though. 14.5% so it's a little high for Bordeaux. Some green pepper notes which turned me off. After some decant time the initial green pepper flavors reverted to the nose but dissipated on the flavor profile. Overall, satisfactory at this point. Will see what this bottle does tomorrow.
