This was far better than prior reviews would indicate. It's rather fruit forward, but has depth aplenty. a nice under-$20 quaff.

bright ruby color; chipped concrete, cedar in the nose; graphite powder and closed black fruit on the palate. medium tannins, fairly simple, not unpleasant, but won't win any competitions as it is.

garnet hues on the edge of the glass; cigar box, forest loam, land jaeger and sweet herbs on the nose; rich black fruit, black currants and gunpowder on the palate. Well-rounded tannins, great complexity, a good fruit/acid balance. Definitely drinking well now, best to consume this year.

Just past its infancy, I'm afraid, but already showing much promise in both structure and fruit content. Lovely black fruit notes with forest floor and light tannins. will definitely last at least another 10 years!

Was not impressed with initial taste, neither with Vinturi nor with a day of time. However, was not considering that I encountered a very young St. Emilion and judged it harshly.

Nice PnP from Costco. Worth about what i paid, but nothing to write home about. The bit of sweetness was offset by the medium tannins. Lots of bitter fruit, a decent quaff. Matched well with the steaks I ate it with.

I'm rather shocked at the 2022 reviews of this vintage. Billed as a meritage, it was being promoted at my local Costco, so I bought a bottle on spec. Bordeaux blends are my favorite. This bottle, however, I found flaccid. The fruit was light-weight, unbalanced between sugar and acid, not even a matter of youth, because it wasn't closed, it just wasn't there. Sorry, but that's my experience.

Nice brick color, though still dark; bramble, blackberries and black pepper on the nose; wonderful silky black fruit with white pepper, well-integrated tannins. Just lovely, opens within 30 minutes, no decanting. Though I used a Venturi for good effect. Delightful to see a well-made Napa Zin stand up to 27 years of age!

deep ruby color; blackberry stew with forest floor in the nose; is even more tasty than it was 10 years ago, the last time I tried it! Well-integrated tannins blend with cassis, blackberries, black raspberries, pomegranate in the palate. Classic cab fruitiness and nuttiness in the mid-palate. You must let it rest at least 30 minutes to allow the bouquet to open. Then you are well-rewarded for your patience!

referring back to my previous note of 2019: "spicy red fruit and cedar on the nose; delicious blackberry black cherry and plum with black pepper spices". It's definitely mellowed somewhat in the last 4 years. I'm getting a less spicy, more integrated note on the fruit, but still drinking very well. I've got one more bottle and will be drinking it in the next year.

I wanted to like this wine more, being the 2nd of a Super Second, but was mildly disappointed.
Edit: I was politely reminded that this isn't even the 3rd wine of Beaucaillou, so I had clearly bought it with unreasonably high expectations. Thanks, Joe, for the comment.

I wanted to like this more, given the price. Still, it's a good QPR, but it was lacking somewhat in fruit. Too much acid for my tastes. Got better the second day. Will cellar the second bottle and see what it's like several years from now.

a bit disappointing, considering my previous experience. This bottle seems closed, even after an hour of decanting. Too much acid for the remaining fruit. Hopefully, just a bottle anomaly since the other two were a delight not even a year ago.

A bit disappointing, considering it came highly recommended. The fruit never broke through the rather austere acids. medium tannins with a bit of sediment, so i would filter the last glass or so. Did not improve the second day, remaining closed.
