This is a fabulous summer wine, fresh with lemon bar richness and fresh acidity. Very balanced

Opened for a pizza party we offered as a prize at a charity auction. Opened for about 24 hours which really helped, was a magnum so I think that helped it age well. It was a hit among the group: I was at the wood oven so was not concentrating on the tasting. I do think this is about its peak. Good dark fruit, after 24 h not much tannin and the aciditity was mellow. A little charred meat which I only got when eating the middle eastern spiced lamb pizza: it was made for that pizza it seemed.

Drank with family at thanksgiving weekend. Only had a chance to open for a few hours and definitely this needs a longer breath of air at this age. Pretty tannic. Then decanted a few times which really opened up the glimmer of the Persona we met when i opened my first bottle. This is still a big and complex wine but for a few years take the time to let it oxidize a bit... worth the wait.

Opened and slow ox for about 10 hours. First on the noze when poured I swear was cassis, violet, pepper and peppermint. Peppermint faded leaving cassis and violet. Even at young age this is well balanced with dark fruit and cassis, pepper, smoked meat. The tannins are balanced as is the acidity which are fairly prominent on the finish but not at all unpleasant. This is starting at a fantastic place and cannot wait to see this develop.

Opened my first bottle Sunday with a friend that went in with me to purchase a few cases. Aired for about 8 hours prior to tasting in bottle. The high rating is not hype, this is fantastic. This is very approachable with a little air even at this young age. The nose hits strong with dark fruit, black raspberry and some cherry. Then there is some herbal quality: violet primarily, I maybe get a little of the smokiness also, we just tasted with some bread and no food, I think food will really bring the complexity. The taste also brings initially the dark fruit, at this stage just a little tannin and some acid that will mean it will age well and cannot wait to see how this does in a few years. I did buy some extra for family and friends in case others wanted to buy a bit from me, but now am hoping that they do not want any (I know quite selfish of me). Planning the annual Duck Cassoulet party for the students and residents this year, I cannot wait to see how this. Pairs with that, thinking it will be a grand slam!

This is in a very nice place. Some fruit starting to show, dark red fruit. I thought and Jane also a little oxidation on colorLoren felt not yet. Starting to show some complexity, still a little tannin so will be nice to see where this goes. A really nice look back to my visit to Beaune. Should still develop. Unfortunately ( for my memory of this but not for me) then we brought out the Maybach which was my WOTN and a real bomb that overshadowed this by a long shot at this time of night.

Started our first spring christening of the new patio with this. Nice red fruit, some spice and good acidity. Would probably age some but like it now so may not try. Some of us felt may hold up to some of the weaker reds and I agree. Will definitely keep some for the summer.

Loren brought to a first spring dinner and for my birthday. The star of the night. Obviously opened well in advance as I would expect from Loren. Deep inky red. Huge jammy dark red fruit ( cherry, blackberry pie). Started off with huge fruit forever. Then some tobacco mid notes and some tannin to follow. Will have a long life. My first Maybach but I hope not my last. Great birthday. Dark chocolate as a desert was then a fabulous follow to this.

Tastes on valentine day with Betty. Valentine day may be clouding judgement. Opened bottle at restaurant right as we began to drink. Nose carries significant dark fruit cherry some raspberry. A little pepper . Taste ok initially a little tannic. Maybe starting to open. Some leather, pepper. Less fruit than nose but good. Seemed to loose much of the power over the next hour. Still quite pleasant though.

Tasted at a Sineann tasting party with the vintner put together by Loren Sonkin. NO detailed notes taken. This felt very reserved for a Zin: still plenty of fruit, but good acidity and showing a great deal of complexity, more earthiness than usual at this age in particular. Loved this already, with age should be a great Zin. Was able to find 5 bottles in the area which I jumped on the next day (left a few for others at the party since they were also looking for some, perhaps I shouldn't have!). Really happy he found and resurrected this vineyard.
