Cassis and smoke; traces of lavender and pine; thick, intense, fruitful, explosive, long finish but less characteristically Cote Rotie with smoke lacking on palate; clearly too young, though not clear the classic elements will entirely develop
By a half hour some smoke and spice beginning to emerge on palate and some additional grip at the center
Next day: somewhat more classically Cote Rotie with good length and depth and finish again indicating perhaps too young but still without the dynamic and penetration one might have hoped for

Tar, roses, rhubarb, iron; beautiful, balanced, very long finish but a bit more monolithic than might have been hoped, and the alcohol content somehow seems strangely excessive and dominant; likely would benefit from yet further aging; still tastes young; but there is an intensity and depth, even at present ,that is impressive; considerably better with food than alone, and with food, more integrated, and rather more creamy and enticing

Upon Opening: Graphite, hints of raspberry, blackberry, faded cigar box, still lively and not insubstantial fruit on the nose; pure, balanced, extended, poised, age comes into focus on finish, which is long
After 45 Minutes: Underbrush, sous bois on nose emerges, and more wild, gamey; palate is fairly similar to initial impressions but more intense, also gamey, and rather more captivating
After 1 Hour 15 Minutes: Nose is more faded; palate is more integrated, still full, intense, gamey, pleasing
After 1 Hour 45 Minutes: Nose faded further; palate is substantially more integrated, a depth and intensity that is lovely, alluring
After 2 Hours: Aquatic and musky character emerging on nose and palate but still with a very attractive depth and intensity
A delightful, aged, dynamic, though somewhat unstable wine; a perfect pairing with goose
