Beautiful aged burgundy Chardonnay dark gold, quite tertiary with lovely funk and complexity but yet fresh and balanced. Drinking so well and would have scored more but the finish was a little short

Opened to a beautiful delicate nose, this wine was punching all evening with beautiful elegant tannins and so much delicious red crushed berries. Really a delight and I never doubt roumier to deliver on off vintages. The 06 roumier bonnes mares still rates as some of my favourite roumiers and this 06 cras did not disappoint either.

It was PNP, initially a little tannic but with air softened. The nose was lovely amoureuses enough. But just a little thin on the palate and didn’t really gain with more air.

98 was good but next to the superb 07 there was no comparison. The 07 was one of the WOTN

Mid shoulder beautiful nose vosne spices hawthorn, cinnamon, builds with air, great length and finish. Tannins quite resolved but enough acidity and concentration to last a few more years.

Opened at 5pm for dinner drinking. This was so delicate and floral almost Burgundian, it was the crowd favorite till the 98 Cuvee special appeared. Overall better than the 95 but certainly not better than the speciale.

I remembered this briefly from a taste, this was quite lovely with stems and all and quite light and aromatic. Will provide more detailed notes next time.

This was absolutely a revelation, it was drinking beautifully with the balance and poise of a great wine but yet this was only a baby. I ve had many different vintages of rayas reserve and I would count this as one of the best I ve ever had. Better than the superb approachable 08 and the great 05. I ve never had the 1990 but I understand that this could be even better than that. This can only get better from here.

PNP to beautiful summer white flowers, this was so good from opening with a freshness and subtle power. Starting to develop secondary flavours this gave so much pleasure. Unfortunately my only bottle

Drinking this next to the 2004 and just proves once again that winemaking changed between these 2 vintages. The 2004 was more rustic more in the style of Brunello de Montalcino while the 2005 was more radiant, fresh, floral and powerful.

Golden yellow, secondary with apricots and burnt pineapples, drinking very well right now as a PNP.

This came out of a magnum so it was so incredibly fresh from the first pour. This needed a lot of air and just kept getting better and better. There were layers of apricots, citrus, pineapples, a gentle fuel driven nose but not overpowering. This kept unfolding with more air and was so beautiful. I will certainly consider decanting this next time.

A little muted on the nose so I decided to decant this on opening. An hour later this started to improve and just kept getting better. Starting to turn a little secondary but this has a long drinking window ahead. Lots of dried figs, toasted cherries and a lovely finish.

This was stunning, so balanced with pineapples and apricots, and with air just kept improving. I think this is still so young and primary I would cellar my single bottle for at least 5 years to see how this will evolve and if it ll get more oily like what we would expect with rayas blanc

Aromatic nose, but very high acidity and right now maybe a dumb phase where it’s quite harsh on the palate. Cellar more

My second time with this vintage and thanks to a kind friend. This seemed a little more advanced but it had all the right balance and notes. With more air this also improved in the glass. Its been a few years but icertainly felt the previous bottle was the better. But still a pleasure to drink this.

One of the best ruchottes I have had, just so fresh and drinking beautifully now. Fabulous floral nose with so much structure and power. But yet so ethereal and length on the palate.

Needed a very good decant before this came alive, this was certainly concentrated as previously observed at the domaine and more hints of soy than fruits in this wine compared to the 2020, but everyone agreed it is certainly complex and delicious. I think i still prefer the 2020

Vertical tasting at the domaine 20, 21 & 22 vintages. The 20 was the lightest and most approchable, the 21 was the most concentrated and powerful and the 22 based on what takahiko mentioned is somewhere in between. The 21 & 22 can easily be cellared for a couple more years at least and the 20 will be the first to drink. 93-95 potential

This is the weakest pignan I ve had, quite cough syrupy and not the characteristic flavours one would see from this family of wines, not a bad bottle but just can’t place my finger on it. Almost chocolaty flavours after some air. I ve seen some mixed reviews for this vintage. Not sure if it’s bottle variation or vintage? And the wine oxidised a little too quickly from opening over the 4 hours or so of drinking. Again not sure if it’s a vintage thing?

This wine needs lots of air. I would consider opening this the day before and leaving it in the cellar. Or double decanting this wine hours before drinking. My own experience after 24 hours and drinking what’s left of 1/3 bottle highlights how much more refined and balanced the wine was on the 2nd day!

Notes as per the last bottle but this time I kept some leftover wine in the bottle and tried it the next day. This was definitely better more rounded and balanced the next day. I would at least open a bottle in the morning for dinner drinking.

Drank next to a 1992 Leroy RSV which acquired Charles noellat in 1988. This was thinner more subtle on the nose as well. Just didn’t have the concentration or power of the Leroy even though it was the exact same plot. Clearly the magic of leroy drank side by side becomes even more obvious. Drank the remainder on the 2nd day and it was still quite good. In fact better than on the 1st day which says it needs maybe a little more air.

Such a delicate floral nose of dark fruit and berries. Some gentle spices. With air the palate unfolded into a complex and spice driven soy based umami, there was much pleasure but yet power and finish. This will age well and I look forward to opening the next bottle in a few years!

Opened at 4pm for dinner drinking, some initial funk which blew away. This was chilled and then allowed to warm to room temperature. This just got better and better with air. Layers upon layers unfolded. Apricots, burnt pineapples, in a oily and dense texture. Certainly one of the best if not the best Corton Charlemagne I ve had. As long as you enjoy this big oily style of wine. Lucky I have another bottle!
