Agree with the recent reviews . This was great. Probably at it’s peak.

Better than average but nothing special. Too spoiled?
Red
Too peppery. Didn’t like like it

More earthy grit in this one than I had anticipated. Didn’t really drink like a Pinot to me but this was enjoyable nonetheless. Would go well with red meat. probably wouldn’t buy again.
Red
Did not enjoy this. Maybe it was corked?

Decent Syrah even with limited decanting. Seems a little overhyped.

I enjoy these cabs and this one is no exception. Medium tannins for a cab (still lots there), good fruit, not too hot. Cherry & plum. Long finish for me.

Pretty good. Had some odd aromas when first opened. Not sure it deserves to be rated at #1

This was a tasty bottle from Zara Mesa. Tannins have started to mellow out a little. Could probably use another couple of years (was even more integrated on day too). Lots of sediments.

Pinot meets Syrah, is how I would describe it. Probably my favorite bottleing they produce. Very dark and reminiscent of their Syrah style but still very much a Pinot. I like it.

Light fruity Pinot. Elegant. Tart cherries. Some raspberries. Pretty good

This is awesome right now. Had a couple of glasses decanted for maybe 30min. While I would not say the same for Pinots, I really do appreciate some age with syrahs. Flavors have integrated well and tannins have mellowed out a little bit. This is drinking great right now.

Not usually a big amarone fan. Heavy wine with lots of tannins. Def get the typical raisin bouquet. Had a taste from a bottle that was opened a day before. Not worth the money to me but happy to have tried it.

Good Syrah. Some peppery notes but not overwhelmingly so.

Decanted for a couple of hour the first night and had another glass the next day. Very bold Syrah with plenty of tannins and fruit. Can easily store for many more years. I enjoyed this one but it wasn’t as good as I remember the previous one.

I like these when they are young. Subdued tannins, good body, slightly heavier (for a Pinot) and dark cherry flavors. Delicious. Almost no degradation on the second day.

In short, not a fan. I love a good Italian wine with their quintessential terroir. One thing that usually comes to mind for me with Italian wines is robust body with a good helping of tannins and dark fruit like plum or blackberries. This new world adaptation does not speak to me at all. While I love Pinots from this region, I did not enjoy the brighter fruit flavors in this style of wine. I also thought the wine lacked body and had no tannins. I have two more bottles (unfortunately) and I fear that more time in the wine fridge will just yield a flat, boring wine.

This is tasting odd to me at the moment. Unlike the previous bottle, this one doesn’t have enough body relative to the fruit. I can quite put my finger on it but this isn’t doing it for me. Had to open something else. What a waste ...

From all the Melville Pinots that I have tried, this one was not my favorite. When I first opened it, it was somewhat flat with little structure and little fruit. It was odd in that the flavor dissipated very quickly. On the second day, the wine was much improved. It gained some structure which allowed the wine to linger on the tongue. Still, not my favorite one (although still good).

Drank this over 3 days. Right after opening, it was very jamish with a good amount of tannins and body. It clearly needed to breathe quite a bit to mellow out the fruit. On the second day, the fruit was much more in harmony with the rest of the wine. Quality was almost unchanged on day 3. This wine can clearly be cellared for quite a while longer. I’m going to try to hold out a few more years to open the next one.

Not sure what happened with this bottle but it was markedly worse than the previous one. Almost no fruit and some bitter notes. I don’t think the bottle was corked but something went seriously wrong with this one despite it being stored in perfect cellar conditions.

More body and tartness than the other wines from the winery. The fruit does dissipate somewhat quickly. Still, I do enjoy this Pinot as a version that’s not as delicate as what I am used to.

My favorite of all the Melville wines. I have also come to appreciate the younger Pinots from them as they have a little more fruit. It’s hard to beat this one, for me.

Heavier Pinot from Melville. More tannins and body than you’d expect from a Pinot.

Drank this over a couple of days. It has much improved since last I tried it 1.5 years ago. The fruit has mellowed out and is in much better balance with the body and structure of the wine. While I very much enjoyed this bottle, I think it could use another year or two to tame the tannins some more.

Decent bottle that goes well with Pizza. As with other Zaca Mesa wines, this on is on the heavier side. It def benefited from some cellaring and could probably benefit from a few more years.

As stated before, tasty bottle but way overpriced. Based on other bottles I can get, I don't think this is worth more than $30 ... and I am being generous here. This is not to say that there aren't many other examples that are equally as bad a value out there from other wineries. Just don't think this is special enough to demand the kind of premium the winery is asking for.

Classic Italian flavors. Very dry with medium amount of tannins for an Italian wine. Color has a slightly brown tint to it. Some raisin flavors cone through. Still getting dark red cherries as well. I very much enjoyed this one.
