Stunning day with Jesse Katz at Carter Cellars for bottling day. This bottling is made up of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and only uses the fruit from the steepest portions of the vineyard.

Dark purplish ruby red. Complex nose with a touch of mint on the attack followed up by black raspberries and currants. Heavy tannins (8/10) with a full body. Insanely structured and well balanced. Rich and still showing how young it was on the palate with blackberries, cassis, black bramble berries, volcanic soil, cinnamon, vanilla and a light touch of oak. Spicy and long finish. Drink till 2036.

Stunning day with Jesse Katz at Carter Cellars for bottling day. This is their Nomad label, which is a label that does not happen every year. The 2016 vintage is from the Sugar Loaf Vineyard in Napa and is made up of 93% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. Less than 100 cases produced.

Dark purplish ruby red that completely coats the glass. Rich nose layered with baking spices, dark flowers, dried plums, currants and dark gravel. A touch savory with tree bark. Medium plus tannins (7/10) with a medium plus to full body. Complex flavors on the palate starting with rich baking spices, cinnamon, vanilla, powdered cocoa leading into black currants and cherries. Gritty texture throughout but still smooth. Dry and long finish. Drink till 2031.

Deep ruby red in appearance. Rich and well rounded nose rich in spices with some herbal nuances, mint, cassis, black plums, black currants and graphite. Medium plus powdery tannins (7/10) with a full body. Spiced palate similar to the nose with figs, plums, rich crushed black berries, cinnamon, vanilla, mocha, powdered cocoa and some volcanic gravel. Long and lingering finish. Nicely extracted and not made in an overly fruity fashion, there are a ton of layers and complexity to this bottling. Looking forward to seeing how this will mature in years to come. Drink till 2046.
