Wine2372 took the words right out of my mouth... well articulated... great lift on this baby... "Juicy red cherry and pomegranite, with dusty tannins, earth, and tart, bright acidity. Remarkably approachable for a Produttori Riserva at five years, and it developed significantly with 24 hours of air. Classic structure and balance, this is a promising vintage."

6/18/22, 7:00 PM - Thanks, Woodie. Just now seeing your note from May, and glad to hear you enjoyed similar things in this wine. I’m a fan of the Produttori Riservas, and this is a good one. Thanks again for the quote.

Slightly gamey nose, into black cherries, raspberry, and fresh black pepper. Bright acidity, light tannins and a medium cherry finish. Drinking well now, and even better in few years. Very nice QPR.

Gorgeous, full-bodied Syrah blend, drinking beautifully at six years. Silky, balanced, elegant, with a stylish oak streak. Admirably hides its thermonuclear 15.9% ABV. A subtle Viognier-white wine softness at the end that’s really lovely. A big Paso Robles Rhone blend done extremely well. Well worth a hold, and glad I have another bottle. All estate, 50% Syrah 32% Graciano 10% Grenache 8% Viognier

7/30/21, 7:34 AM - Hi jeagle, and thx for the comment. Yes, I’m very familiar with the Monastrell-Graciano mix up in Paso Robles lol. It affected the 2015 and 2016 vintages from a variety of producers, and I still have a handful of mislabeled bottles from both years I’ve been holding onto. A good wine-lore story for sure.

  • Wine2372 commented:

    7/31/21, 6:46 AM - My review lists 32% Monastrell :)

Cassis, slate, and toasted oak, with drying tannins and a lean, medium finish. Nice structure, with a distinctive tannic streak. Best years lay ahead.

Lush blue-black fruit, with cassis, pencil lead, and drying tannins. Ripe with some extraction, elegant and firm, at the beginning of a long drinking window.

5/24/21, 8:31 AM - Thanks for the comment. The flavor evolution throughout a 4-hr decant was amazing. It really benefits from air, suggesting many good years ahead. The Napa 2016s in general are some good wines.

Completely agree with Wine2372 notes and score. This definitely needed a few hours in the decanter to shed edgy tannins and a slight bitterness. When it did, it was a very dense, concentrated dark-fest. Very tasty and heavy on the dark chocolate, espresso, and ash. Long finish. Nothing sophisticated here - just attacks.

1/3/21, 5:45 PM - Thanks, IAMANDYC. Your note sounds familiar to me as well.

Rich, full-bodied blue-black fruit, with cassis, pencil lead, and drying tannins. Firm structure, some extraction sweetness, and a medium finish. Lovely purity of fruit, with elegance and restraint. Enjoyable now with several hours of air, and worth a hold.

Bold, dark raspberry, black cherry, and chocolate, with great acidity, firm tannins, and some oak. Big structure and fruit resolution balance with a frisky alcohol heat streak. Lively Syrah, drinking well, with its best years still ahead.
  • Wine2372 commented:

9/8/20, 2:41 PM - Thanks for the comment, and yes, I feel lucky. I bought it at release, and have been reading all the mixed reviews ever since. I opened it last night with low expectations — and no small sense of dread lol — so you can imagine my surprise. I wonder if bottle variance issues that could explain such a wide array of reactions(?).

Napa bordeaux blend showing elegance and depth at nine years. Smooth palette of dark cherry, plum, and kirsch, with minerality, a soft grip, and light oak. Generous fruit, but not overly ripe, and a pleasant 14.6%. Thomas Rivers Brown’s first vintage with Revana, an auspicious start. 96% Cabernet Sauvignon 4% Petit Verdot
  • Wine2372 commented:

1/1/20, 10:16 PM - Thanks for the comment, Winelover. I agree that Revana produces excellent wines, year after year. The older vintages you mentioned are all drinking very well indeed.

Beautiful Napa bordeaux blend. Merlot, with a touch of cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon, drinking well at ten years. Big cassis and black fruit that's lean and restrained. Slate and minerality, with a touch of cedar and tobacco. Elegant and precise, an excellent wine.
  • Wine2372 commented:

12/28/19, 11:38 AM - Thx MJP. Blankiet says the window extends to 2029, and I find no reason to disagree. It’s in the middle of the window, enjoy your bottles at your pace.
