Superbly aromatic nose of honeyed pears, light blossom and lavender, with hints of cucumber, sage, dill and white pepper, riding on a steely base of flint and oyster shell. Herbal, complex and shifting. The mouthfeel is weightless, with a fine almost mousse-like density, persistence, length and grace. The finish seems to reverberate forever on notes of crushed salt and herbal.

Vivid dark ruby in the glass. This pops with an intensely perfumed nose of wilted rose petals, fresh cherry scents and plump raspberry. Floral, fresh and pure. Light pepper and undergrowth notes emerge with time. The palate is concentrated and incredibly smooth, with plenty of mouth-filling volume and touches of darker-tinged fruit. Hints of spice emerge on the extended finish. This is still young, but drinking superbly. With wild mallard and grilled leeks with chilli yoghurt sauce. 93+

A floral nose of creamy jasmine and fresh cut white flowers, supported by buttered apple, lemon curd and some light fruit cocktail notes. Needs a bit of time in the glass. Lovely weight in the mouth; on the richer side, but with floral finesse, a touch of salinity and just enough acidity. The finish fans out on creamy, slightly spicy notes. This is still fairly tightly wound and will only get better. With mussels in white wine sauce and buttered toast. 93+

Translucent cherry red, with a pretty perfumed nose of strawberries and red currants, touches of earth, minerals, underbrush and wafts of gamebird and lavender. Perhaps puts one in mind more of Vosne than Gevrey... The palate is middleweight and supple, with plenty of structure and freshness, but approachable now. Slightly lacking in vibrancy at first, but comes alive after an hour, suggesting there is more to come here with further aging. 92+

Bright cherry red. After an hour or so, this presents a perfumed blend of ripe confit strawberry, high-toned red cherries and cranberries, with a well-integrated layer of vanillin oak. Savoury wafts of milk chocolate, liquorice, oregano and underbush come and go. The middleweight palate is fresh and tart, with piercing acidity - a kiss of stems on the extended finish, lingering long on delicate red fruit. Super. 93+

On the palate, it is creamy, soft and super-ripe, with a mouth-filling density and fine texture. A little bit of wood and rusticity around the finish, but a really delicious village Volnay.

This is always a lovely, complex wine - effusive notes of white flowers, creamy peaches, vanilla and buttered brioche, supported by lemon confit and honeyed notes, maybe even with a suggestion of fresh figs. Mineral and herbal notes also gently poking through. The palate is dense and mouth-filling, with supple acidity and a sneakily long finish that ends on a saline, mineral twist. Real bang for your buck, which should improve. 92+

Deep and exuberant cassis and ripe blackcurrants to the nose, with already soft tannins and full bodied weight. This is without great precision and edging towards being confected, but mocha, smoke and oak add a touch of depth to the ripe fruit. The finish is somewhat limited, but loaded with gravelly dark fruit. A lovely daily drinker.

With roast lamb rump, sweetbreads, morels and salsa verde. 93+

A quietly understated nose of dark raspberries, red berries and plums, with prominent supporting notes of pine needles, forest floor and freshly tilled soil. The palate is harmonious, with juicy red fruit, abundant fresh acidity and softly resolved tannins. Slightly austere, particularly around the finish, but not without charm and length. With Cote de Bouef, sweet potato fries and asparagus.

A stylish and pure nose of meyer lemon, struck flint and light toasty notes opens out to deeper suggestions of smoked almonds, buttered apple and quince, with wafts of thyme and mint. Texture, tension and body are in abundance, with an almost painfully intense, mouth-coating concentration on the mid-palate. Crushed salt emerges on the finish, which expands across the palate into a long-lived crescendo. So young, but so much potential. With grilled lobster tails, butter and breadcrumbs. 94+

Ultra-fine, sleek, polished tannins, with a medium weight, sweet-toned mouthfeel - youthful, but lovely already without decant. The finish is long, silky and airy, with a peppery bite and firm, grainy tannins. With ribeye and garlic rosemary potatoes.

The initial blast of citrus is joined by softer notes of white flowers, honeyed white fruit and buttered pastry after 30 mins or so. On the palate, energy and acidity carry layers of citrus, honey and crisp white fruit, but with a soft and elegant edge and a long, almond inflected finish. Perfectly harmonious and controlled. This is in a beautiful spot.

Deep purple with an immediate impression closer to Bordeaux than Burgundy - smudged cassis and black currant, with blueberry pie, graphite and a raisiny note that I sense is obscuring underlying complexity. The palate brings much needed freshness and lift, followed by powdery tannins that assert a voluptuous grip. Probably better with the right food, but very 2018 and not what I seek from Gevrey or Burgundy.

This leads with a gorgeously elegant nose of jasmine and little white flowers, limes and restrained stone fruit, thyme, crushed salt and minerals, with a seamlessly integrated gloss of oak - the tiniest trace of reduction still apparent. The velvety mouthfeel rides a well-spring of tension, with waves of fresh, salty, citrusy layers emerging, culminating in a gum-coating and very saline finish. The terroir is very much felt - this is not your stereotypical Meursault. Superb stuff.

The middle-weight mouthfeel is silky and fresh, with a mineral veneer and a lick of spice. The finish is a touch linear and strict. 92+

Powdery tannins with slight grip, clean, saline, with a good line of driven acidity and a touch of brambles. A trace of CO2. This feels like classic Leroux Gevrey.

This was showing very well - crisp alpine strawberries, violets, white pepper and truffle on the nose. Soft, juicy and sleek, with silky tannins. A little bit of grip at the back suggests it has further to go. Very red-fruited and classic, if without marked complexity.

Seductively perfumed nose of dried rose petals and violets, with sour black cherry, purple fruits, licorice, vanilla and incense. Gamey notes beginning to emerge, as well as a touch of CO2. The middleweight mouthfeel is punchy and energetic, refreshed by piercingly vibrant acidity, with saline, mineral lift leading to grainy tannins. A faint suggestion of wood on the mid-palate, before the smooth, lingering finish. Stunning purity and drive which should continue to age well. 93+
