Just what it is supposed to be, offering a balanced sweetness with flavors of apricot and walnut. Moderate intensity, not too sticky, with a little more of the botrytis flavor than I usually like.

At the Pamplemousse Grill, Solana Beach, CA. This is an elegant bottle of Climens that while not especially intense has a great sense of line and balance that make it a lovely finish to a meal. The colour is a pale copper-gold with a nose of apricot, Seville orange, grapefruit and honey with a palate of finely defined fruit that lingers and is balanced by a fine acid/tannin construct. It conveys the magic of Barsac very well for middling vintage.

Golden yellow. Not much botrytis in the nose, exotic fruit (ripe mango, papaya), some honey and spicy notes as well. It pleases, but doesn't excite. On the palate, it's quite dense, a bit alcoholic, medium, slightly diffuse acidity, rather oily sweetness. Not 100% harmonic. This is one of the weaker Climens vintages, the neighbouring 97 and 99 are a lot better.

Coravin 11/8/14: Light-golden color, lighter than expected for its age; medium intensity nose with some minerality, slight chlorine, some fruit but difficult to pick out individually, slight spice which turns into saffron + more with time; palate is medium bodied with classic Barsac weightlessness, but still has good concentration, some white fruits, slight spice, very slightly tangy in the midpalate, but lacks persistence and the flavors fade through the midpalate leaving behind very slight heat; short-medium finish. Overall a classic Barsac with good balance and elegance, limited persistence of flavor and thus not comparable with better vintages. An excellent food wine. 88 and unlikely to improve. 11/16/14: Definitely worse than when first opened. Comes across as more alcoholic and unbalanced.

MASTER AIS BORDEAUX; 10/22/2014-11/30/2014 (HOTEL WESTIN PALACE MILANO): 100% Sémillon. 40% Legno nuovo. Impatti piccante e smaltato, gas metano.

32nd Annual Zinfandel Retrospective - the 2000s (Rich & Dana's): Light golden color. Aromas of apricot, marmalade and baked pears. Smells like a Sauternes that will be rich and viscous, with a heavy, mouthcoating texture. That said, it's rather elegant and light, with citrus, honey apricot blossom and stone fruit flavors.
