Dégorgé 2011 PnP - Apple, apple and more apple! Pours a deep golden yellow with fine mousse. At first I thought this tasted 100% Pinot Meunier because of all the overtones of apple; however, the wine is PN and Chardonnay. Besides the dominance of ripe red apple and calvados, there is distinct underlying malolactic acid.
After a few hours of air the champagne flavours round out and integrate to a delightful mature wine of fuller body with brioche, yellow and red apple; good length and aftertaste. Plenty of years left for cellaring but ready to drink now.

Seems to have improved since the bottle enjoyed four years ago. This is from the 06/2016 disgorgement, which from what I can gather is a three vintage blend of the 2002/04/05 vintages and is comprised of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay; aged for 5+years. Opulent, luxurious, rich, and powerful. Highly complex with lots of autolytic/leesy notes. Fine and persistent bead. Creamy texture with acidity to provide balance to the richness. Wonderful long finish. No rush on this, as it will easily cellar well beyond 2030+.

Magnum, 2019 disgorgement. I think, despite the 'extra age', that we opened this too soon, as it showed much younger than a 2018 disgorgement drunk a couple of months ago. Piquant and full of Granny Smith and citrus. Drinking well but lacked complexity.

Disgorged May 2018. I immediately loved the nose, full of character from the ageing: dough, honey, toasted nuts. I usually don't like Lanson, I think because I prefer Champagne that undergoes malo, and the green apple character of the house style remained the dominant feature on the palate, though this was nicely mellowed down and the fact the wine was so structured suggests there is plenty of scope for further ageing. Looking forward to trying again.

Rather decent and very enjoyable with a few caveats. This was disgorged March 2019 and believe it’s a 2004/5/6 blend 25%/25%/50%
Nice ageing on the nose but a lighter and crisp style. Feels like it’s missing some depth and after a few glasses the acid is noticeable but this is a very good and somewhat easy to drink wine. Lovely zest and as it warms then opens it takes on a slightly richer creamier profile. Will age well and decent value.

12% abv. Disgorged 06/2016. Light gold color, darker for champagne. On pnp (fridge temp) nose/palate dominated by bread, yeast, faint signs of almonds, zippy micro bubbles, vibrant, long finish. Over next 6hrs as it warmed up in cellar, it took on more luscious, rich texture, showing more fruit characteristics: apple, pear, hint of tropical fruits, good to last drop. Well made.

DG 06/2016 Rich and concentrated on the nose from the start; classic notes of aged champagne such as mushrooms, old dusty cellar likeness, heavily toasty with toasted bread, almonds and pine nuts, cookies, white chocolate, milky coffee, honey, caramel, Sherry wine, a hint of varnish; it also has its ripe fruits such as guava, apricot, peach and nectarine. Mid gold. Creamy, buttery, cooked apple and pear nose, good maturity. Still very crisp on the palate, almost too much acidity, with lime, lemon, and fresh apple. Lanson's wines are always bracing; this is fresh-tasting and could age another decade or two. Pretty good quality for the price nice to see it stocked on the high street (as it has been for several years). Pity they don't sell the other two cuvées. After a couple of hours, an intense aroma of melon. Disgorged 06/03/2019. [Composite cork + cage; 12.5% abv; Marks & Spencer, £45].

Disgorged 3/2013 (I believe this is a blend of 2000, 2002 and 2004). Med gold color, what a knockout nose loaded with bruised pit fruits and quince paste. Rich and round with plenty of sweetness on the palate. This combines the hedonistic deliciousness of Gramona Brut Imperial with the precision and minerality of Champagne. If this wine were a girl, I'd wanna kiss her. 94

Deliciously inviting and vineous nose, brioche, honey, passionfruit. Elegant and velvety with a fine perlage, rounded and rich. Chardonnay-influenced butter popcorn, lime citrus and floral, this is really delicious. Lovely toasted hazelnut finish. Great champagne at a great price-point. 92-93.

Enjoyed a bottle of Lanson Extra Age yesterday and I have to say it was very very enjoyable. I believe it was disgorged 06/2015 but I might be mistaken. I particularly enjoyed the way in which the initial mouth feel gave nothing away as to the full flavour profile which I experienced later both on mid plate and then on the finish. The finish was lengthy for me and enjoyable. I tasted some lovely fruit characteristics and then I really felt I could taste the 'Extra Age'. I'm not sure that Lanson extra Age is better than Lanson vintage..for me they are different and I find that intriguing and interesting.. My purchase was through the secondary market and clearly the storage conditions of my bottle were perfect, no problems or questions here! I'm not sure my 'Extra Age' could get any better.. lively in the glass and a lovely mousse (which I'm partial to!) as well as comments I have made already. This leads to be believe Extra Age is one for relatively immediate enjoyment. Store for a while if you wish but I would then find an excuse to enjoy it!

Disgorged June 2016. Enjoyed at a Christmas celebration. Pale medium gold, seems to have some body; a bigger texture, and lots of fine effervescence. The additional bottle age seems to have added to the perceived complexity and overall harmony of fruit, acid, and balance. Displays an elegance. I like this a lot.

Pale gold in color, this wine reveals poached pair, blood orange, tangerine and brioche aromas. The mouth feel has subtle mousse, is medium bodied and brings defined graphite and hints of white flowers and pear. The finish has bright acidity but ends noticeably short.

Disgorged in June 2014. The wine was light gold in colour, with intense and very fine perlage. It offered apple, ripe pear, apricot, roasted almond, brioche and honey aromas on the nose. On the palate the wines showed bruised apple, pear, apricot, almond, honey and brioche flavours on a chalky mineral spine, with creamy mousse, lively acidity and good length. The medium- to full-bodied champagne pulled itself together nicely after some aeration. A huge step up from the Black Label, but a litte pricy for what it brings to the table. 89+

Delicate nose of apple, pear, white stone fruits, floral, some red fruits, pastry, toast. Palate is linear, sharp - pastry, apple, cooked green fruits, floral. Overall not broad and generous, finishing almost hard, lean. Fine juice but maybe a bit overpriced for what is brings.

Pale straw yellow. Red apple and caramel nose that speaks of quality and a little age (as you'd expect); then peach and even a little spice. This is more like it - after a string of so-so champagnes from various producers I expected more of. It's very intense with a strong acidic backbone initially, but that then recedes a little and allows a broad midpalate of apricot and biscuit to develop. Less austere than normal Lanson NV, and not that much more expensive. Beautiful presentation with narrow-necked bottle and heavy black and red box. [Cork + cage; 12% abv; Marks & Spencer, £45].

70th Birthday Dinner at Flemings, nose of brioche, baked green apple, citrus, and yeast, same on the palate, medium/big body, tasted better the colder it chilled in the ice bucker, very tasty, complete, together, favorable impression, and a medium finish which hurt the score, paired very well with Seared Ahi tuna.

A blend of Pinot Noir (60%) and Chardonnay (40%) from parcels located only in Grand Cru-level vineyards. Blended from vintages 2005, 2004 and 2002. Bottled in 2006, disgorged in 2016. Dosage 6 g/l.
Lemon yellow color. Crisp yet ripe and somewhat toasty nose with aromas of ripe Granny Smith apple, some developed nutty tones, a little bit of autolytic brioche, light spicy notes, a darker-toned hint of cherry or black raspberry and a touch of oxidative caramel character. The wine is rich, crisp and steely on the palate with bright, precise and very mineral flavors of Granny Smith apple, almond-driven nuttiness, some developed notes of bruised apples and apple-oat cobbler, light leesy yeast character, hints of cinnamon-driven baking spices and a darker-toned touch of sour cherry bitterness. The mousse feels very fine, smooth and creamy. The finish is long, complex and racy with dry and precise flavors of steely minerality, tart green apples, some bruised apple tones, a little bit of autolytic toast, a hint of leesy yeast and a touch of lemony citrus fruits.
This Lanson bottling performed better this time than the last time I had it a month earlier - the wine shows more autolytic tones and developed complexity that befits its name. Still perhaps a bit too polished and anonymous in style, but at least the wine doesn't feel like your typical Lanson Black Label with a bit more autolytic brioche character and a higher price tag anymore. Quite enjoyably complex, structured and precise effort that feels like it could continue to develop for some years, if not even decades. Pretty nice.

A multi-vintage blend that is aged for a minimum of 5 years on the lees before disgorgement.
Pale greenish color. Crisp, somewhat dry and quite yeasty nose with aromas of ripe Granny Smith apple, some autolytic brioche notes, lighter nuanced of toasted bread and a floral hint of white flowers. The wine is ripe yet very crisp and steely on the palate - true to the Lanson style - with dry flavors of pronounced steely minerality, sour lemon candies, some pithy grapefruit, light yeasty tones, a little bit of sweeter cinnamon-like spice and a hint of nutty autolysis. The wine is quite high in acidity whereas the mousse feels rich yet very smooth and creamy. The finish is long, bright and tangy with nuanced flavors of tart lemony citrus fruits, ripe red apples, some toasty autolytic character, a little bit of yeasty French bread, light notes of steely minerality and a hint of brioche.
A very lean, mineral and precise NV that feels slightly more complex, nuanced and toasty than your run-of-the-mill Lanson Black Label. Overall the style is slightly anonymous - at least if it weren't for the recognizably crisp and steely house style of Lanson. Perhaps not that thrilling Champagne for now, but shows good potential for further development. This still rather linear bubbly might turn out quite impressive, if given enough time. Noticeably better effort than the somewhat musty Extra Age Rosé that was tasted alongside.

I found the Extra Age concept working quite well for Lanson. I aged it for one more year at the cellar before consumption. It didn't have as tart a profile as young Black Label, but had depth and nice concentration. Not as much green apple, more of ripe, yellow apples, a bit of rye bread, some spices. Overall quite harmoniuos and long.

Really toasty nose with lots of bread and yeast. Red fruits and orange peel, all very nice. Regrettably also a strange perfumed flowery scent, reminiscent of perfumed soap. In the mouth quit nice the first few seconds, with nice mousse and more pinot fruit. However, this is followed by rapidly fading fruit and quite harsh acids, combined with the soap. Not very nice at all!
I see quite a few positive reviews of this wine, which leads me to wonder if the current batch isn't as good as the previous ones, or if this bottle was defect in some way. Would be interesting to try another bottle, but not interesting enough for me to risk a re-buy.

Lanson: A Taste of Tradition (Vancouver, BC): Tons of fresh lemon on the nose, along with tart red apples, caramel, and a touch of orange peel. Plenty of lemon follows through to the palate, along with lots of green apple, lime zest, and some toffee. Plenty of firm acidity, with a medium length finish ending on green apples. This is much richer and complex than the black label, and certainly much more interesting. Good+

En magnum. As I understand it this is black label kept in the Lanson cellars for around five years and released as 'extra age', I assume this is post-disgorgement. A little firmer and slightly more stolid than the Picard. Some weight showing, reasonably bodt and length, a little less elegant. OK to good, but I'm not sure this is any better than normal bottles aged at home for a while. **1/2

On the nose, notes of red berries, typical brioche, toffee, pear, zest and mineral, which together give a harmonical and somewhat (but not overly) developed/mature impression. On the palate, noticeable acidity, again aromas of zest and brioche, slightly nutty, and a slight (citric) bitterness. 90-91 p, definitely enjoyable now and with big and elegant aromas. Will however easily handle several more years of cellaring, and would gain from a few more years. Would have received a few more points if had been a little more full on the palate.
Most likely a 99/02/03 blend, the same as at the launch of this wine in 2009.

This champagne is extremely fresh and complex, has 14 years "sur lie" that gives this brioche aroma, but I think will age well developing some good oxidation and complexity.

Some tiny bubbles, but very intermittent
Light brioche on the nose, lemon peel, citrus
Astringent, high minerality, very tart, green apple short finish
Deemed a 'summer bubble' by some
I found the champagne to be to aggressive with very little follow through. Also, the QPR was a little high.
