Robust botrytis character, on the nose and especially the palate. Nectar and peach aromas. Sweet, but enough acidity to keep it fairly balanced. Not the longest finish, but overall, this is a tasty one.

Royal Tokaji in Hungary is my wife's favorite dessert wine producer, and I bought it from WineBid for $40. It was interesting to contrast this with a Rombauer Late Harvest Chard from earlier in the week. This was so much more complex: apricot, honey, more tropical flavors, caramel, and some burnt or bitter orange. It was sort of like what I enjoy with Amaro Nonino, but I'm not sure if that light bitterness is a bug or a feature. I enjoyed it either way. This is definitely something to sip and savor in small quantities.
After drinking it again the following day, the orange bitterness had disappeared. I guess it was a bug.

Soiled label. Golden to brown amber colour. Nose of dried apricot, orange zest, yellow flower and honey. The flavor at palate was consistent with the nose. Acidity was OK but it's very boring overall, mostly due to jammy texture and lack of freshness. Is it because of hot vintage? I like Tokaji dessert wines but definitely not this one...

My how this has changed in 4 years. Dark walnut color now. It's lost its primary honey flavor and now has a strong caramel flavor. Creamy mouthfeel. Light apricot. Always a favorite.

Rich nose of honey, apricot, sweet flowers, caramel and mandarin orange. Holds itself well on the palate. Sure it's rich but the acid is clean and helps balance it out. The apricot, glazed peach, candied apple and honey flavors are quite complex and deep. I dig the quinine and crushed rock elements that linger onto the finish. Sweet, nutty, rich, but it's got a lot going on for it. Tasted from a bottle that had been opened the night before for about 9 people, and the 500ml bottle was still half full. Speaks to the level of richness in this wine. Open with lots of people around!

Remarkably bland dessert wine. It was not really overly sweet, definitely had a strong acidity characteristic, but I am almost at a loss to describe many other flavor profiles in the wine. It was I guess mildly sweet, a bit of caramel, a touch of burnt sugar, but on the whole kindof a 'sweet' end to the meal more than an interesting wine. I found the Essenzia a few weeks ago to be really a differentiated wine and quite an experience. it is clear there are a number of jumps btwn that and the Puttonyos 5.
Amber color. Honeyed bouquet of mandarin oranges, apricots, cigar tobacco, and spices. The mid-bodied, palate is balanced, showing good purity, adequate richness, ripe acidity, flavors that match the aromatics, and orange pith and minerals on the grippy finish. Really came together on Day 2. Needs time to integrate all of its moving parts. Lots of potential.

Served at a temperature of about 10C/50F. Sampled over an hour. Good to go after 20 min. Orange zest, dried apricot, and apple cider notes. Good stuff. Meets expectations. BTW, this 250ml bottle was kept in room temperature in the last 2 years; won't last for long in these conditions actually, the cork is half soaked; if you can't keep it in constant lower cellar temp or wine fridge or wine fridge, drink now to avoid oxidation (these small bottles have smaller corks that are probably more sensitive to storage conditions).

Bright golden color in the glass. Medium-intense bouquet shows honey, lemon and hints of white flowers. Palate is rather lean and adds a tart peach/apricot note. Acidity is still high, but the wine doesn't have the sweet creamy texture I'd expect from a 5-putt Tokaji. Not bad, but might just be in a down phase right now.

Honung och aprikos och varvas med lite nötter. En dessert i sig själv. Bra syra som balanserar upp det söta och lång, lång eftersmak. Ett riktigt bra dessertvin.
The wine looks Yellow gold colored. It smells like and Peach. It tastes like Peach, Lemon, and Orange. The body is Light/Medium. The wine has Bright texture. The wine finishes Medium. Easily hold it's own against a d'Yquem but at 1/10th the price
Luscious dessert wine with a bright yellow color, nose of dried Turkish apricots and acacia honey, on the palate the wine has a good amount of acidity to match the amount of sugar, I paired with a deconstructed Tiramisu a Foggato, it was fine but it was better enjoyed on its own as over the table drink after we finished the dessert.
Beautiful golden-yellow color with honey and apricots on the nose. I drank this as a pairing with a strong blue cheese, which was a great decision - flavors of apricots, peaches, pears and honey complemented the cheese perfectly. Not cloying at all; the acidity balanced the sweetness very nicely.
Overall a world class dessert wine.

In Vino Veritas Session 5 (MIT): Light copper gold color. Now this is *pure* tinned peach syrup on the nose. Holy cow. Plus your standard botrytis and oxidation. Peaches continue on the palate. Loads of botrytis, plenty of acid - quite beautiful, with a long, gently tapering finish dominated by dried apricots and an entire forest of wood. Funny - I've had this exact wine before and didn't make quite so much of it (90-91 P if memory serves). Tonight it really hit the spot. 11.5%, $40 / 500 ml.

I like tokaji better than Sauternes, sue me. This is really a beautiful wine and just a baby. I opened it 5 days ago for a dinner and it was great but I was in no condition to write a note. Fast forward to now and the bottle has been sitting in the refrigerator with just a swig waiting for me to write a note. Great color, starting to add some depth, dominated by the tarnished gold coin hue. Nose is honey and baked fruit. Palate is honey and pear with a prefect amount of acid mid palate for the needed balance to prevent it from becoming syrupy. Nice sweet fruit through the finish. Excellent. Wish I had the willpower to let these cellar.

Deep gold, bright with abundant tearing. Pronounced intensity with aromas of dried apricot, orange marmalade, sweet spice, cinnamon, vanilla, slight coconut and candied orange peel. In the mouth the wine is sweet, high acid, slight front of mouth phenolic grip, medium minus alcohol, medium plus body and pronounced flavour intensity with flavours of orange, apricot, cinnamon, coconut and touches of vanilla all of which trundle along companionably on the long finish. Outstanding stuff....no lack of complexity, beautifully weighted and balanced, utterly intense and very very long.

Popped and poured, followed about 30 minutes. Deep golden colour in the glass. On the nose, notes of honey, spice, orange marmelade, and caramelized apples. On the palate, like notes, with moderate acidity, reasonable balance. Overall, a stark contrast to the exceptional complexity of the 2006. This vintage appears to lack a lot of the botrytis character, and all the complexity that it brings to the wine.

This one is a treat. You will hear it described as honeyed and noble. We'd agree but the lasting impression is really how clean and fresh it was from start to finish. Sweet yet nothing sickly about it. High in alcohol yet nothing heavy. This really can go with some savoury foods as well as being a dessert wine.

Consumed over ~2 hours with blue cheese and a baguette. Spiced apricots and citrus on the nose. Medium-rich on the palate, with good acidity to balance the honeyed sweetness. The fruit notes from the nose carry through on the palate, with an added level of spiciness and hints of butter which just peek through. I'd expect this to be delicious for at least another decade or two.

Rich golden color. Nose opens with apricot, orange a a little bit of butterscotch. Very elegant with layers of flavors that include caramel, burnt orange (like a Gran Mariner) , spiced apple. Still very young but wanted to try. Leaves a very clean lip licking apricot flavored finish. Type of wine that you can't resist savoring with small sips. Score would have been higher with more age. Thumbs up. Will look for more at Costco. Day 2, takes on the taste of fruit bathed in a buttery sauce.

My first ever experience with Tokaji, no written notes. Silky texture with warm, tropical citrus notes. Was hoping for more acidity to balance out the sweetness, especially through the finish, but not sure if that is fair or varietally/stylistically correct. Overall, an enjoyable wine. Very easy-drinking, and never syrupy even with the significant residual sugar.

Nose of dried apricots, varnish, honey and acacia. On the palate, this is not as opulent or sticky as the '06, but it's quite delicious. More elegant, more precise..this will age gracefully. Incredible that you can get this quality for such a ridiculous price (about $40 here for the 500 mL). Tokaji make me happy!

Weird; this smells a bit like a Sauternes. I get a strong manderine orange note coupled with burnt pineapple. Slight botrytis notion, but pretty sweet in complexion overall. Nice texture in the mouth. Really nice in fact... impressive feeling as I hold this on my tongue. Mild acids grow more intense as it's held there and splashed around. Really beautiful mid-palate... Elegance in spades, which is interesting and a bit of a drag because it doesn't follow through on the nose or finish. More Sauternes like on the finish, but 5 seconds later that proper acid begins dialing up which I really dig. Seems a bit internationally styled for a Tokaji Aszú, but still enjoyable.

Apricot, honey, and a few more complex notes of flowers, spices, and aromatic wood. Very nice balance between acidity and sweetness, yielding a fresh and smooth Tokaji. However, this is a significantly less intense vintage than the usual for this wine. Very good, but a bit shy in comparison with, for example, the 2006 vintage.

Incredible that you can get this quality for such a ridiculous price (about $40 here for the 500 mL). Tokaji make me happy!

Particularly well-balance. Elegant sweetness without cloying

Best Hungarian wine I have ever had. Very good sweet wine without being syrup.

Honey, apricot, butterscotch flavors and aromas. Definitely came of a bit young and light.
